Phase Connect's Pipkin Pippa (and eventually Panko) designed a parody VTuber company with AI-generated art. Some of her fans played along and it outgrew the joke to become an actual indie circle (with Pippa's blessing), using a corpo-style gen structure and AI art as a kickoff point. I’m in the acceptance phase of Marie leaving. It sucks, but I understand her reasoning. I’ve also come to accept Sena’s unbranding as long as she still considers herself part of the group, I think she should do what’s best for her. Hopefully the remaining girls will fill the void in my heart.

I hate to say this but I feel like we've stagnated. Marie was right in pointing out that it's only the same people over and over again watching FlaVR streams. When's the last one someone aside from Sena got a new regular? Hell I think we're even losing regulars.
But maybe we're comfortable with the streamers having smaller chats. Question is, are the streamers okay with that?
And if this is a problem, then what's a solution to this? And is it even worth stressing about this? Maybe this is how it's supposed to end. Maybe FlaVR is supposed go out with a whimper.
I feel like we've probably done all that we can on our side to support the girls (short of buying them actual l2d models).

This is a bit inaccurate, sure you have a lot of the same people showing up to all flavr talent streams, but at the same time, if you pay attention, lots of them have dedicated regulars that are exclusive to them and not the rest of flavr. sure numbers are always an issue, but if you pay attention, there are always new people coming in for each talent, I see new people crop up every couple of streams. I've seen a decent amount of people say that they dont watch anyone else in flavr, besides the one they're watching now.
Marie had several of these people that were Marie exclusive.
Sure number stagnation is happening, but this is honestly normal for small streamers, and flavr honestly gets higher ccv than a lot of other indies, even ones with a lot more investment, (professionally done model, etc.). Mixie alone personally mogs 95% of twitch vtubers and shes just a png who has no schedule and does whatever her autism compels her to.

If the talents want to expand, then more streams + clips and trying to reach out for other collabs is what they need. People here can support and make clips but it is up to the talent to do what they feel is right and continue it. Flavr fans are only so big. At a certain point it's the personality of the streamer that will attract new viewers.

Sena is, despite how some feel, doing a decent move growth wise. She has a growing audience and expanding out will help. Removing the flavr tag will likely avoid questions new fans may have about name and get right into her stream.

Even if the some of the talents do make it, they'll probably drop flavr and that'll be the end of it. Flavr wasn't supposed to last this long. We are living are on borrowed time. You bring up some good points anon. I took watched the brolime stream all day and it definitely left me in not the best headspace. I haven't watched the Marie graduation yet, idk if I'm in the right spot for it, but I need to to get all the info I can. Still, I'll give my two cents.

This I don't see as a problem. A lot of the regulars like FlaVR, and it's always good to have a base of fans you are familiar with. See also >>49517822 and >>49518254 who brings a good point that many of the talents have regulars that don't watch any of the other talents. Maybe it's because they don't know about the others?

Any streamer wants to grow, that's common knowledge. However, I don't see stagnation as a bad thing. Plenty of small chuubas have regulars and no growth, but they happily stream. As long as the talents are having fun, they'll continue to stream.

I think Brolime brought up a great point during his stream that the best thing you can do is support your talents with clips, with art, with anything you can do to show how much you appreciate them. It's not easy, you actually have to get off your ass and make something, but for small creators like the FlaVR girls, even the smallest things matter a lot.
There are L2Ds in the works for all of the talents, but it is throttled by having this be a hobby project. Without any capital it's hard to get things like dedicated clippers, assets, and other various things needed to keep people invested in your small channel.

Imo, it's getting those that only watch one of the talents exposed to the others. More collabs and a better sense of unity could help to expose those that watch a single chuuba to other talents they may like, thus leading to more viewers for each other. Unfortunately there isn't much we as fans can do about that, that is a talent issue. Judging by the context of Brolime's stream there was something that happened behind the scenes that really rattled unity. This can be repaired over time tho, as most of the talents are pretty tight knit. The only other thing the talents need are L2Ds. New viewers aren't going to be interested in pngs. Luckily see the earlier comment that L2Ds are in the works.

My personal opinion on everything is that FlaVR is not dead. However, we as fans need to shift our mindset from "FlaVR is a real corpo that needs growth" and move towards be happy with what we have. I have said many times that FlaVR is for fun, not food. Making it bigger than that adds pressure to the talents and we don't need that. As long as the streams are fun, the fans will come. Such is the plight of the small chuuba.

Brolime is totally menhera but in a good way. He goes hard, and actually tries to do interesting content (trip to see the billboard, long gaming sessions while talking bullshit, impromptu karaokes). I am kinda surprised that he isn't more popular. Sena actually puts effort into her streams, and they are great; but Brolime really brings that bro energy that I feel is missing in the Vtuber world; I don't think everything should be cute waifus.
Brolime fills an interesting niche because he is kind of a meta Vtuber, often talking about things happening behind the scenes, in his personal life, and not worrying too much about the whole Vtuber shtick (keyfabe). He's just a funny dude.

The fact the girls aren't in the 1-0 view hell that a lot of indies start out in means the algorithm gives them a higher focus. It also means they have a lot more people to bounce off with meaning less dead air which is really important when you are trying to find shit to talk about.
Also like others said, there some people who are just watching specific talents. Hell, Grug mostly stuck with Sena for a long while before showing up in others chat; growth does happen, but not immediately. Also networking is a thing for sure, see Sena going with Bagstard or Sawa; clips would also help but that's not something they can do full on their own.
Like Marie said, FLaVR isn't dead, so stop doomposting.

i already know how to do it, main issue its how horribly time consuming it is since i have to MANUALLY transform every voice sample to mono (because it only works on that), import them into the mod creation interface and then manually create each individual action bank and then manually connect all of the voicelines to a randomizer

for those who didn't watch brolime's stream where he talked with mixie, it seems the main contention is that as a FOSC (Free and Open-Source Chuuba) project, anyone can slap the FlaVR tags on their model, similar to how LinKD(?) did.
we also had the idea for releasing new talents in "generations" early on, but we couldn't really justify it since we only release one or two at a time, and can't lump talents in with each other if they don't interact with each other.
combining these thoughts, the talents could then group themselves into "generations," thus they have an association with each other, and could push the idea that they are not necessarily related or aware of other "genertions."
this won't solve the problem of people just slapping on tags and saying fuck it, we roll, and selectively grouping themselves may end up just creating cliques of different FlaVR groups instead. i'm full of bad ideas, so let me know what you think, but i find this preferable over drama-by-assiciation

It's easy to picture Raimi being playable in some kind of platform/Metroidvania game, maybe something like Paper Mario where each character has a unique ability. How would you handle other FlaVRs?

This is absolutely my experience. I was there in the Pippa streams that created FlaVR, but I never followed through with the new streamers. A couple of months later, Pippa collaborated with Sena, and I realized, "hey, it wasn't just a meme, some people actually took it serious". More time passed and I saw the collaboration between Minna and Brolime, and realized, "hey these people are actually interested in keeping the meme alive", and since then I started looking more into the FlaVRs, realizing that there were characters beyond the original that Pippa created (Marie, Jubi, Mixie, for example). So making a small collab is not too bad; keep it two people at the time, short (1.5 h max) and to the point, and you have a great environment to cross-pollinate these small fanbases.

Again, I'm sorry for the quieter sign in today, I'm still recovering from Marie's stream.
First, Nyana is still busy today, but will be talking about her dream house tommorow, which will be interesting considering how other stream like it have gone.

I'm one of them and I'll be frank, this is the third(?) /fvr/ thread I've been in so obviously I'm not up to date on many of the specifics.

For me, the biggest hurdle is discover-ability because unless you're already subbed to someone on Youtube you won't ever find their stream. This is further compounded by the fact that in the initial rush, only Sena has maintained a steady schedule and she was rewarded with the highest CCV. Minna *could* have had that but with there being multiple Minnas and the inconsistent streaming schedule her popularity was doomed from the start and then there's the rest of the FlaVR crowd that either dropped streaming or had streamer shuffles.

Frankly, it was a pretty bad first impression for a lot of normies on Pippa's streams which is why the second wave of FlaVR never caught the same amount of attention and interest as the first wave did; hell, I still can't fully place a voice+model to some of the names in this thread.

So this loops back to the first problem in that it's hard to get new viewers onto Youtube as a streaming platform and it's doubly hard to get people to check out a FlaVR stream especially if you're not part of Pippa's expanded circle of fans or connected to /vt/ in some way.

As for me personally, what got me to watch Marie was ultimately because I think Sawa mentioned her in a tweet or had a collab with her or something two(?) months ago. She also had a very convenient time slot for me which was weekday mornings while I'm bored to death at work. I had followed Sawa on Twitter for years long before I discovered Phase Connect and then later Pippa so it just seemed like a happy accident that I was able to discover a random 2-view like Marie.

So to reiterate some of the points made in this thread, clips+collabs are absolutely needed but I'd argue that having a bigger social media presence and streaming once or twice a week on other platforms like Twitch can only help their growth because honestly FlaVR feels like it's an enclosed island off on it's own that is hard to even find unless you're guided to it.

I feel like people in these threads have never had to really contend with the trials and tribulations of becoming an indie vtuber. FlaVR is basically exactly that: a coalition of indie vtubers with some anons supporting them.
That means you're going to see the group struggle with discoverability (which is ass on Youtube) and issues with viewer retention when it comes to stuff like inconsistent stream schedules. Being in a group is supposed to help offset these things ("hey, I'm not streaming, but my fellow member X is. Go watch them!"), but a lot of FlaVR has content gaps (people that want to watch X won't watch Y because they're doing completely different content) or schedule gaps. Or depression, which is the killer of all things structured and creative.

FlaVR does have an edge over most other groups in that it is rooted in /vt/, meaning you can get a lot of exposure and advertising (things you desperately need) via board events. I know these threads got a lot of traffic when the /vt/ league was running, but that's only twice a year. You gotta carry yourselves for the other 10 months.
Basically, if you're a talent? Get to networking. With each other and with other vtubers.
If you're a viewer and want to support? Clips and Stream Compilations do wonders for getting the name out.

I had fun thinking about this in depth.
She's very cute, shy, soft, a bit silly, very proper and wholesome but has a slightly deep voice.
She liked leaning into kayfabe but she actually took it kinda seriously, which ended being a detriment if it wasn't something she really wanted to keep going. So I don't think a profession or status kayfabe character would be good like ojou or princess or anything like that. Perhaps something more simple that she can shape naturally into something like simply a cute dog girl or something like that.
I do think she needs at least some theme or gimmick because she likes using them. She likes underwater sea creatures so that could work, but they aren't very cute or soft, they are scaly and cold which complicates things, maybe it could be a creature called the sea angel? It's kinda cute, a clear white transparent color with some shiny bits inside, has sort of jelly wings and antennas and it's made of soft jelly, kinda cute. Given its name it ties with angels which does fit her personality well, I think I'd go with that.
She's not too sexual so I wouldn't give her a high sex appeal rating, at least not on a superficial level.
Her comfy vibes kinda make her feel soft, so I'd go for a design that evokes those feelings, lots of rounded soft shapes, not much angles or pointy features. Overall I'd go for pastel colors with maybe just a few more intense colors for contrast.
I think a cute dress or a sweater would suit her well. I wouldn't make her too thin either. I'd give her a somewhat softer round face and features.
For resting face, or face shape, eyes, etc I'd give her a comfy and easy going gentle smile.
I'd also try to make the hair rather fluffy and cute.

The trope has seen a lot of usage and it's very old, many magical girls come in big teams with many of them, and it has been subverted and reinvented over and over.
There's basically a magical girl for every style you can imagine.
And often magical girls do come tied to animals, it's not uncommon at all.
So I'd go for a magical girl sea angel.
As for outfit perhaps something like this could work out? Like I said earlier sweaters or other dresses can work out well, and if she was a magical girl or sea angel themed it would be worth trying to work in some aspects that are usually associated with those into the design too. And it would need to feel "vtuber" like, which is a tricky thing to do. In general vtuber designs are built to stand out more than regular cloth. Your experience watching Brolime points highlights one thing most new viewers will most likely experience. Immediately being put off by a dude piloting a female avatar. Brolime is a very unique case, being able to pull off being a babi by #1: Starting off at the very beginning of FlaVR when most people had little to no expectations of there being actual women and #2: Being a consistent, solid, and entertaining streamer able to streamer for many hours a week. I don't exactly agree with this, but maybe you are entirely right. My point wasn't that being a babiniku is bad, my point was that Brolime is so good that his avatar essentially doesn't matter; also he doesn't stick with a single "model" (static image), essentially he uses a new model (image) for each of his streams, and that image is adapted to the topic of the stream (medical outfit, military outfit, messy hair, etc.), so it always feels fresh.
So my point was never about the babiniku model but more about the quality of the person handling the model; if you are good, consistent, creative, dedicated, honest, and know how to network, you have a bigger chance of being successful. It's not just about being a real female with a cute female model, you need something extra that nobody but the streamer herself can provide.

I did pitch the idea to use a male version of Coco, but the thread was more into the idea of me killing myself (understandable) so I left it at that and took the lesser evil. Part of the reason I graduated was because I didn't like playing a female character. It wasn't anything unusual to me, but it's also hard to play a proper kayfabe for it and not feel it come off as odd. On my other stream I don't really do kayfabe safe for a couple small ideas. I tried to work the gender issue into the story but couldn't make it satisfying.

There weren't any male characters for grabs, I'd have taken a cute boy / ikemen or anything else that would fit, but due to the hostility I dropped arguing and just did my own thing as best I could.

If any males are interested in getting into FlaVR you can ask here if people are willing to prompt a male model for you, best if you already have an idea that fits into the group as a whole or prompt one yourself and then fully understand that there will probably only be some small support for you. I think /vt/ as a whole and Pippa's viewers gravitate more towards females. I find it interesting that in the beginning there were two camps of "just doing this for fun" and "helping the girls make it". Sena made it, but none of us really thought past that. I think it's a decent "marketing" move to go away from being associated with AI, especially since the debate is just fully heating up now. I'm sure Sena is grateful for the help she's gotten, but phasing out AI content was a good move and people here were in support of that. In the end FlaVR isn't viable to stand up as an "actual" corpo even if just because it's going to be a problem working together with artists which are pretty damn important for a vtuber. Personally I loved working with AI on my project but I also wished I had the funds to have all these characters created by actual artists. This is what they look like. So I'd assume some sort of antenna on the head which is standard vtuber animal girl stuff, I think Ina has something similar, and that style of flipper transparent water wings if possible.
They're also blue or clear so I'd go for either a white or a light blue color scheme to lean harder on the angel part.
I'd try to make it feel soft so maybe I'd throw some fluffy white details like what a Santa outfit has or just try to give it all a thick soft fabric.
This sort of shit must be tough to prompt though, unironically it's something an actual artist would do much better.
Given the shape of the animal, it kinda feels like it has a cape so I would try to do something like that, I like the look of this outfit and I would try to work around something like it

There is and there isn't. Males aren't received well because it's Vtubing and when you take on the FlaVR tag your involving yourself as a male Vtuber which is sort of already a Faux Pas (kinda tactless for ESL).

Coconut Blanc, Pua Himawari, Traube, Sorin, Inko, Temp Bo Gor, Desmo Twanipop, Jaki Kyoryu have all done it with varying acceptance. Dr. Lolime is the only fully accepted because he started it all and streams A LOT.

The ideal way is to ask for a design to be genned or go through the throwaway designs but as I said there aren't male designs. I made my own but I'm more of a community member if anything. I'm about to remove my tag because I feel better about participating in FlaVR that way.

It may be a 50/50 split and if you do your own thing and make a genuine effort there are people there that will respect that.

A concept came to me and I want to flesh it out. A historical-themed FlaVR member, themed on an animal that went extinct after people hunted it for food.

The last great auk was killed because sailors thought it was a witch, so that could be an interesting motif to work with. Looking at this pic I'm thinking a white dress, floor-length hair, and big round glasses. The auk's beak is pretty distinctive and there's a few things you could do with it - maybe light pauldrons or bracers.

Any ideas?

Tbh when I first found flavr, I thought it was great for people who wanted to start streaming, and it definitely helped sena start.

Sena is a nice person who tends to stay away from drama, and she also seems really humble despite "making it". I think by removing the tag she's probably trying to make room for people who need more help than she does. Either that or maybe all the people with previous streaming/vtubing experience clouds the vision she saw for flavr, and she's moving away to separate herself from the drama they might cause.

Either way I doubt she has malicious intentions by removing herself from flavr, since she has stated before that she is doing all of this for fun, and doesn't have the desire to do it full time or anything like that. She also doesn't seem like the kind of person who thinks she's "too good" for anyone or anything.
