But it's also unclear whether the cut is different. I would assume that if merch was produced without Anycolor's help and they bother promoting it in the first place, the cut must be more than 2%. Bu if it's 2% even for self-produced merch, that would be the epitome of black company.

Ok I’m all for calling them a black company for literally everything they do such as awful managers, no support for lower members, forced changes against the will of talents, lower members not getting as much chance for sponsors or voice packs. There talents for the most part are shit talkers and awful people. Riku looks like he has a punchable face. There’s a lot but Merch cut isn’t one. It’s actually customary for the cut to 5% for actors and depending on how unimportant you are it will drop proportionally. Hololive once again isn’t the standard they are just morally righteous and trying to help all their talents (even if 95% of the fan base wished certain members got the boot)

Don’t forget all you faggots including the dramatubers you worshipped brought up super chats as the end all be all and that merch didn’t account for much. Remember everyone praising luxiem and claiming in some cases they out earn HoloJP? You then praised vshojo as the beacon of being a good corpo for making all their money on merch with 0% cut.

There is no "standard" for Vtubers because every company does their own shit, and info for most of them has not reached the public for us to decide what would be "standard". We do know that Vshojo and Cover are giving at least 50% though. Kson thought 50% was still worth complaining about. Which leads to one of two scenarios:
Either Cover was paying 50%, she thought that wasn't enough, and she's now happier at Vshojo because they give more
OR
She's been bitching recently about Vshojo's 50% not being enough because she's used to Cover being higher.

This was always cope and people called them out on it on a regular basis. It's a well-known fact that merch is, in basically every industry, an extremely high-margin product. It costs a fraction of a penny to manufacture and brings in big bucks. Many people aren't willing to hand out money for nothing on a subconscious level. But if you hand them a keychain that costs half a cent to make and tell them they are supporting their favorite entertainer? They will lap it up. Even if they don't actually WANT the merch, they can look at it and feel good about themselves knowing they "made a difference". It's tangible, something they can hold in their hands, as proof that their actions meant something. This revelation should be leading to outrage after fans found out that the only person they made a difference to was Riku, but admitting you were scammed is embarrassing. So many people would rather just play it off as if it doesn't matter.

It does matter though, sisters. The people you profess love and support for are being treated as slave labor. Stand up for their right to a fair wage. As part of a vocal group that actually buys merch, watches streams and supports the company, you are in a position to make a difference. Anycolor doesn't have to care what outsiders think, but YOU can hurt their bottom line and force them to change their ways for the better. Teach them that 50% of something is worth more than 98% of nothing. You have the chance to be directly responsible for putting a smile on your oshi's face. Or you could put a frown on it as they read your comments defending the people abusing them.
