If she's in jail, then she would most likely have just been terminated if she confessed or took a plea deal; but it's reasonable that if she didn't and is waiting for trial, Cover would excuse her absence and give her the benefit of the doubt in hopes that she'd be acquitted and be able to resume work.
If she died, then it seems like normally Cover would have come out and said that, but I suppose if it was in some shocking manner, like a suicide, or if she was raped and tortured to death or something, then they might have a reason to cover it up and not let the fans know about it.
