the new one is dogshit, please watch the original. the seris is my favorite piece of scifi media ever, if you like history and scifi you will love the show. if you like it there are two seasons of gaidens that will give you more character background information, technically your "supposed" to watch these first to keep the timeline in chronological order but you will probably be bored if you aren't attached to the characters already since it's mostly just lore for them.

NTA. Here's the general watch order.
I didn't watch the movies, and they aren't really necessary. The story doesn't actually get /that/ good until maybe six episodes in anyway.
A lot of it is history retold as a space opera. If you just think of the space battles as naval battles they make a lot more sense.
I watched Gundam 0079 recently and it is not very good. Watch Dagram the Fang of the Sun instead. It's not historical in the way LotGH is, but it's a mecha war drama set on a planet battling for independence. It's quite good and all of the conflicts, battles and tactics make sense (why people are fighting in the first place and how, etc.). The only thing you have to suspend your disbelief for is the use of mechas in the first place. In fact, there are several episodes where they either don't use mechas at all or just barely use them, and those are the best episodes.

Personally I thought Yuri's community wasn't meshing well with the overall of Phase Connect. If you visited their discord, it was kind of loosely connected. The incentive was more to sink further into her own other discord and audience. The single worst part of Twitch that you are all forgetting comes from the content creator side:
It is IMPOSSIBLE to build an on-platform community on Twitch. There are no tools for it and Twitch makes it about as difficult as it can for the average user to navigate to an offline stream.
This is why everyone also uses Discord and YouTube. If you want to retain regulars you need to. There's nothing on Twitch to hold someone's attention when the stream is off unless you do what some streamers did for a while and play 24/7 VODs while offline. It's shit.
