Sure, my process is usually to think "hmm what is something that isn't really explained?" and then I come up with a mechanism to explain it. I'm mostly aiming is to have fun, I like coming up with pataphysics and making technical drawings. As well as set up future lore that might rely on those fundamentals.
My main inspiration is to find a real-life phenomenon that shares some characteristics with the fictional thing, and then re-work it for our purposes. A bit similar to drawing from real-life civilizations to create vitubian countries.
If you mean actually making the figures, most of the time I slap together a simple scene with the objects I want so that they're nicely shaded and placed precisely, then I import the render and add what I need to CSP or Paint.NET.
I'd be happy to help with any of that if someone wants to give it a whirl.

Not all but some of the ways confectionary chuubanite is used within the borders of the pink lands. It wasn't touched on but harmony and piano music is also resonant with the Luknights and it could be used in a variety of ways, possibly to enhance, recharge, or create a chuubanitrophic effect. It might even be a necessity for things like the Blizzard Fleet to have a pianist (preferably young for maximum conceptual resonance) to play a series of songs to lead an Ice Breaker through its voyage.
In the sci fi setting, I think a cool idea would be for luknights to use a form of chuubanite to terraform moons underneath the surface to create a candy wonderland where they can colonize lunar orbits. Luknights secret moon societies could exist without a planet's inhabitants being aware of it outside of the occasional faintest hints of "naaaaaaa" in the night's sky.

Always an uber-based trope, I approve. They'd need to play harder the stronger the storm. Music as a conductor for magical effects in general is very cool, I love how /vnug/ put that together.
Subterranean lunaitos living in sugar caverns? Burrowing for colonization of inhospitable worlds would be a pretty optimal approach, as the earth above provide easy and free protector from small meteoritic impacts, solar radiation, and extreme thermal changes.

Yup, outside of heat, light, and oxygen you'd be fairly set to begin terraforming if you've at least got that little bit of magic to kickstart the process. I have the idea that luknights could use specialized crsytalline spires to absorb and store immense amounts of light to disperse through a system of specialized organic heat regulating plants and systems. Maybe a tiny moonstar inside of it to keep the whole thing running, kinda like in that movie Moonfall.

From a gameplay POV, what would really be the difference between a Church/Shrine/Temple and something like a Mage's guild?

>> No.47843225

>>47842468
Hmm all the (civilized) magic in Vitubia stems from the realm of the gods, so I guess both would have a religious aspect. I think the church would have a focus on social stuff, like happiness, education, and maybe judicial matters, while a Mage's guild would be more about making use of magic directly, and training people in its use for civilian/military applications? There are some vitubian countries where the two are distinct, and others where they're more combined under one organization.

These are not all of the effects, there are more qualities to it.
The concepts are Desire, Luck, Data, and Numbers

The chuubanite has 3 separate levels of "refinement", and each level appears in a different state of matter.
>Solid
Its the raw ore, mined from the ground. Its a mineral that can be carved into various items. This solid form is relatively stable, but its magic is by far the weakest of the 3 forms.
>Liquid
Refined from the raw ore, A metallic or water-like liquid (Imagine: Mercury). Less stable than the solid ore, but the magic is more potent. This would probably be the most commonly used form of the chuubanite.
For a real world analogue, think of the raw ore as cinnabar, and the refined liquid as mercury, except not as toxic.
>Gaseous
Further refined from the liquid. Very volatile, but extremely potent. Handling the gaseous form requires extreme care and precision, and specifically made equipment. Prolonged exposure or exposure to large amounts may cause schizofication. Short term exposure or exposure to small amounts of the gas will increase one's flow greatly.

The chuubanite may occur in all 3 forms naturally, but the ore form is by far the most common one. Pockets of the gaseous form could make mining for the ore dangerous.
The colour changing effects described in the previous rentry on nasfaqg chuubanite would only affect the solid and liquid forms. The gaseous form has an oily rainbow-like colour. Like that of a thin film of oil on the ground. It does not actually have a colour, it just refracts light in a fucked up way.

Some other effects are hinted at https://rentry.org/dghwn

The only reason we have a standard calendar irl is because Christianity had enough influence to spread it to the colonizers, which ended in a snowball effect. So how would you go about that in Vitubia, considering we don't have anything like that? On a meta level it also does not matter, since we all just use irl month names.

There’s no need to force everyone to use the same system. In fact, I’m pretty sure there are several nations that have already given names to the months and/or seasons: /morig/, /2434/, /vnug/, /vrt/, etc. They don’t all use the same breakdown and this allows them to create a calendar that fits better for their individual cultures.

The calendar we have irl didn’t always look the way it does today. I don’t remember the details, but July and August were thrown in to celebrate the Roman emperors Julius and Augustus Caesar. In fact, the year ends with September, October, November, December which clearly have prefixes meaning 7, 8, 9, and 10 but they are the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th months of the year. Extra shit got added in later and there’s no reason to suspect that a similar thing would happen to the Vitubian calendar. Thats the point that anon was trying to make I think.

From a very brief search I did, ancient greek had a thing called "civil calendar", which was the only one that had 10 months instead of the 12(there was like 10 others with 12 months) and was used for, and I quote: "The main reason this calendar existed was to keep track of the financial transactions within the Assembly."
So when Romans rolled around they were like "sup, we like this one more than any others, we yoinking it", and so their first versions ended with 10 months. Extra months were later added because shit and stuff happened, but I suggest you research that yourself, it's actually really interesting.

NEW UPDATE!
The PvP beta just dropped via the "Adventurer Guild" update. Things are going to work through world ticks so its going to take a few ticks for things to play out.
Buying and Adventurer Guild gives you access to a Scout and a Raider.
Hopefully things are self-apparent after reading the in-game text, but I still haven't decided what the best way to report things that happen on-tick will be so I'll just say keep an eye on your happiness and your resource stores.

I'll try to type up a more detailed explanation of the mechanics on the rentry tomorrow, but for now I rather get the feedback of what you all THINK is happening first.

Normally, getting into a mecha is presented as an exciting and fun thing for the recruit, but here the phrasing clearly implies this machine has a more dangerous side, even for the pilot. Makes me wonder if those machines have negative connotation even for the public, or this is just the pilot having some sharp intuition?
>catheter port
Cool detail! So the ichorite is spread through the user's blood. Injection through a port and funky blood color shenanigans, kinda reminds me of the G-force tolerance drug from The Expanse, though the effects are clearly more complex here (Seems like there's a psychological component?). I think I'm seeing how the relation between the pilot and the assistant AI is done, should be interesting. Both mecha control systems in the setting so far seem to rely on some kind of pilot-machine relationship, but expressed very differently, the /vnug/ AI is quite forward. This is a beloved trope with good reason, lets you explore the pilot's mind in the solitary confines of the cockpit.
I disproportionately love that >dozens of invisible bodies were piling on top of him> tells the reader that the robot is accelerating at above 20Gs without using any technical linguo kek.
guess I'll go watch the latest ep of GWitch now

This is just something that came to mind before bed. Sometimes power suits and mechsuits are referred as steel coffins. There is a fear of being trapped in a mech suit and never coming out. There's also fears of sections of powersuits getting damaged that it severely maims the user. Especially if the suit needs a neural implant to use.

>>47924650
My idea’s that the danger of piloting a mecha is reasonably well-known since they evolve from hazmat exoskeleton used since the early days of space /vnug/. All but the simplest hardsuits require neural connection of some kind to operate effectively but the excessive information going in and out of the user’s brain can lead to a severe mental stress and damage. Due to how hostile and violent Despina’s environment is, for most of /vnug/’s history this is just an accepted risk for those who use exoskeletons and mecha on a regular basis. It’s not until the discovery of crystalline vitubium and the development of AI through it that information required to pilot mecha can be processed fast and efficient enough to make mecha usable by the majority of the people. However it also means that the pilot will be sharing their mind with the AI, which sometimes still result in mental damage and insanity as they grew closer and more attached to their AI. People don’t know if that’s caused by the AI themselves (or whether it’s intentional) or just a remnant of the inherent danger of the neural connection system, but most people just accept the risk since the technology’s too useful and is still less dangerous than the pre-AI system
For dedicated fighting groups and pilots like the ones in the story, the safer AI-faciliated system just means they can now push the system further since they can move faster and more precise due to them being controlled by thoughts alone. A result of that’s that /vnug/ mecha are faster (like in https://rentry.org/eek5r)) and more powerful than average mecha who also prefer melee combat and hit-and-run to make use of their advantage. The ichorite is basically a cocktail of various chemicals and artificial blood tailored to the pilot and mecha so that the pilot won’t get killed (physically this time) by the high g-force they’re constantly subjected to, while also increasing their combat prowess in different ways because if you have to do it, you might as well do it right
I haven’t written much about ichorite’s effects since I imagine they’re highly customized depending on the circumstances. In the story the only confirmed ingredient’s erythrocruorin, which is a massive molecule that can transport dozens, if not hundreds times more oxygen than hemoglobin (or in their case, hemerythrin) so the pilot can withstand acceleration longer before grayout kicks in. The pilot (I was gonna name him but I forgot) also felt other things like thickening blood, powerful heartbeat and inability to make his heart race. They might also be caused by something in the ichorite to help mitigate the stress of combat (or of ichorite itself) like help improving blood clotting and numbing the sense of pain
Him hearing the AI inside his head’s more due to him being plugged in from behind his neck but he doesn’t really register it. It might be because he had experience connecting to AI or because the circumstance and the socket being out of sight made it escape his mind. That said it would make sense for ichorite to have something that help ease the pilot’s mind to the AI due to how vital the constant connection is to combat effectiveness
The cockpit’s stated to be kinda crowded but it doesn’t get a lot of mentions since I feel the truly scary thing about space’s its vast emptiness which goes kinda opposite of the cramped feeling. I guess the suffocatingly small cockpit’s probably why he isn’t wearing any kind of spacesuits people who watch that Non member stream will know my intended /vnug/ spacesuit design

I see, checks out. That relation between the users and the suits seems pretty well-thought out, kinda reminds me of how some harmful drugs like methamphetamines were used on soldiers and such a few decades back before better alternatives were found. I guess the ichor is a bit analogous to that.
Ah, I was wondering if you'd read that, I'm happy you did. I'm planning some kind of continuation, but my inspiration is only telling me about stuff to add to that vitubium thesis these days kek.
Ahh, physiological effects, nice. I enjoyed reading about erythrocruorin, neat compound I hadn't heard about, it's pretty neat how there's a scientific explanation to so many different blood colors. It sounds like ichorite has some effect on his hormonal system, controlling his cortisol/adrenalin levels or the like. If it's going to affect his blood this much I guess this would be needed.
Oh, interesting thought. I wonder how someone more used to life in space would feel about it. It would be terrifying to be at risk of being stranded in the infinite void, but someone more used to that life might feel like he'll be fine as long as their vessel has self-propulsion/an emergency transponder to call for help. A bit similar to how first world adults nowadays aren't worried about being dropped in the middle of nowhere as long as their cellphone has data, or something like that.
good taste
