There is no relation between subs growth and live audience.
Proof for that is that the great majority of Youtube content creators won't even live stream, but that doesn't prevent them from getting a huge number of new subscribers from their VODs and overall social media presence.
Additional proof for that is Hikakin being one of the most subscribed youtubers in Japan but consistenly struggling to beat 30k with his live streams even in milestone streams.

Live audience comes from consistency and frequency, to allow for the audience to form a habit around watching a live stream from a certain creator.
VOD Views and subs come from both being promoted by the algorithm and from being popular with the general audience. That's why Hikakin never gets a VOD under 1M views, but struggles to beat 30k in peak CCV with his live streams.
