I'm not quite that scornful that I'd call them ethots, if anything it helps bring out more honesty in interactions for a sincere streamer.
You're mostly right for me though, even if I already stopped watching seasonal anime long ago.
I think I still come here because it's a fast board that is somehow not as insane as others and there's surprisingly a sense of community here.
I'm also not going to deny that I remain fond of my oshi and love seeing news of them doing well. I feel what keeps me posting is seeing other catalogshitters running wild with their rrats. Perhaps it's counterproductive at times.
I remember what it was like when weeb shit was massively unpopular so seeing people who are into it, without being completely toxic spergs, doing well is important to me, I suppose.

The problem is that coomers with porn addictions have conflicting interests and make up the majority of the streamer fanbase, and now they've taken the majority of the vtuber fanbase as well. They want dainty and modest traditional girls, but then they also want cock-hungry sluts, and they constantly flip flop between the two because of their porn addiction. It's a sad, miserable life. They most likely will never be happy as long as they're terminally online.

I wouldn't say they make up the majority of vtuber fans but they do throw around enough money that the major corpos do chase after them. Hololive is usually tame compared to other corpos but several talents got stuck with coomerbait outfits they hate because management wanted them to compete with VShojo.

I never hated them, I was intrigued, found my oshi, then got into unity and started watching a ton of different vtubers in hololive. Then slowly realized that the unity shit is fake and I was just enticed because of the cute avatars into thinking they were more interesting, genuine, and entertaining than they really are, and now I only watch a handful of vtubers. I pretty much view them as any other flesh streamer I used to watch because that's what they are. The novelty wore off a long time ago.
