It's weird how I can write 5k+ words of fanfic in a month like it's nothing yet I struggle to manage 500 words for essays over the course of a week. I know they're different but the sheer amount of fanfiction I've written fascinates me when I look at it in comparison.

My advice is to bullshit the rough draft just to get words on the page. Don't even look for sources or work on your bibliography, just grind out pages. Once they're on the paper, it's a lot less stressful to tighten it up, add sources and such

Last winter we were getting fucking 7-10°C, it was awful. It was to the point where I had to sleep under 3 layers of bedsheets. How does everyone write the parts of the story that connect each scene? Whenever I have two scenes I want to write that are a little ways apart, I struggle to write the bridge that goes from one scene to the next. A sequence break feels too unnatural but I can never make a smooth transition and fill the gap with interesting events or dialogue.

If you implement them correctly, your readers won't mind smash cuts, they'll actually appreciate the variance and suddeness.
You should never really be writing scenes that you actively dislike or have no purpose. They'll come out poorly because you're uninspired, you'll have to spend more time on them comparatively, and they will degrade the overall quality of the work, by way of dilution.
