Vtubers killed the anime boom in the West. I remember around 2015 all my normal friends started getting into anime for the first time. They were keeping up with current anime until 2020 when HoloMyth debuted. After that, they all suddenly switched to being vtuber fans but gradually lost interested over time. Instead of going back to anime, most of them turned to other hobbies like video-games or sports. The only one I know who's still watching vtubers or even anime is me. So congratulations Hololive. You killed anime.

I do kinda agree with your point though. The problem is that all of the people who got into anime after it became popular only watch the big seasonal anime like Dress-up Darling, AOT, Nagatoro, etc. Anime studios see that shounen and waifu-bait shows are the most popular and stop making anything else.
