Has vtubing become an accepted hobby, /vt/?

Do you talk with your family, friends and coworkers about your power level?

>> No.46841807

"Whatever makes you happy I guess" is the response I got from my mom when she saw my oshi's merch. Vtubers aren't popular where I live because French vtuber clippers never took off and explaining what Hololive is too much trouble

I grew up in Japan as a child and nobody even knows I like anime, just that I dabble in the language for meager attempts at fluency.
While Vtubers are funny, sitting down and explaining them during a stream would be like Pinhead explaining the pleasures and joys of pain to someone holding the box.

No, its a universe away from their understanding
one time my dad cought me watching some chuubas and said "watching cartoons son?"
and I just responded with "just somekind of ad about a facebook game"

I feel more at ease watching loli vtubers because they dont have huge tits so it doesnt seem like Im watching some porn or what ever

It's just streaming but more weebs and more lewd fanart

Hobby? This is my life. I sometimes talk about it with one of my brothers.

>> No.46842613

Nope, I’ve changed the subject when one my irl friend who’s a normalfag but knows about vtubers brings them up. I don’t really want to talk about how cringe the whole thing is, or really explain to him that I barely watch streams anymore.

it's not just vtuber, it's all of weeb culture that became a mainstream hobby
I remember when I'm in high school dude from a different class got teased/bullied cuz he liked anime
"you already big man, why are you still watching cartoons for kids?'
cuz of that I spend most of my high school days keeping the secret that I love anime and going to conventions alone
but nowadays? almost everyone who touches the internet at least already watches jujutsu kaisen or Demon Hunter

I first got big into anime and otaku hobbies when adult swim was a thing in the early 2000's and I've been shamefully hiding my hobbies from my friends and family ever since. I only ever openly talked about anime with one coworker years ago because he brought it up first and was able to prove he knew about shows outside of the most basic shounen series. The few times I've ever heard anyone mention streamers IRL it was always to talk shit about "those people that watch other people play video games, who would do that???". There's not a chance in hell I would bring up vtubers or try to explain why I would watch them over normal streamers.

no
>Do you talk with your family, friends and coworkers about your power level?
not with friends or coworkers but my family is pretty cool about it. my mom watches quite a lot of anime and i show her the occasional clip of some vtuber being funny. usually pekora or bettel, they have the most clipable moments

>> No.46843231

My friends and family know about vtubing because I'm a vtuber myself. I don't really talk about any of the vtubers I watch since I know they aren't interested, but they're all thankfully very supportive of my vtubing endeavors. I've caught my sister in my chatroom a couple of times.
They know that I want to make a career out of vtubing and have made it clear that they believe I can make it happen. They probably wouldn't be nearly as supportive as they are if I wasn't also working full time and pursuing a degree.

>Do you talk with your family, friends and coworkers about your power level?
I don't because I don't have autism. Nobody in real life wants to hear me talk about how much I like anime girl idol streamers. I'm a grown man.

It's entertainment for sure but not a hobby

I rock my Korone t-shirts in public, the guys in my band don’t get it.

No?? I dare you to take about vtubers to your coworker. you need some sort of special autism to think vtubers are acceptable anywhere except their chats

>> No.46847541

No. Why would you ever reveal your power level? They won't get it.
