She's the last remnant of the pre-/vt/ era of Vtubing.
Before all the soulless roasties turned it into another outlet for them to be depraved attentionwhores, complaining endlessly about idol culture and "parasocial" fans.

What? She wasn't even a vtuber before /vt/ was a thing. Nigga if this wasn't a bait post you should've said Nina Saotome or Kitanya instead.

She was into vtubers years before you even knew what they were

yes and no
-yes in that her style, format, etc is closer to hololive in every way than to the average twitch vtuber
-no in that she's post-myth as a vtuber, and later than the first holoMyth inspired indie wave, as anon >>46675320 mentioned

Ironmouse was around since a month before Sora even, that is true. But her style is closer to what's become a "twitch vtuber school" sort of. A lot of zatsudan (i don't think her Just Chatting is even named like that), chat interaction, react content, big random collabs, etc. The average twitch vtuber is basically a fleshtuber streamer in behavior, just with an avatar. However Ironmouse has a bit more kayfabe and is less lewd than the average twitch vtuber.

Shondo is clearly from the "hololive vtubing school" so to speak. Understands parasocial, big kayfabe, no males, no react content etc. Same with Nina Saotome or Kitanya since most of those indie vtubers were inspired by early hololive.

Most twitch-like vtubers come from a different background, normally either artists, former VRChat content creators, or flesh streamers turned vtubers.

The most uncommon thing is a "nijiJP-like" vtuber, I can only think of Tenma (phase) or maybe Mocca. And I don't think there's a unique "nijiEN-like" style, other than appealing to twitter.

Wasn't Nina a streamer before becoming a vtuber?

No. You may be thinking of BatAtVideogames.
