Her songs are anime-like because of the kind of talent they've secured for her music production. Arte Refact, Myth&Roid, Elements Garden...everyone has produced really good stuff. The instrumentals are great.
The issue is they don't seem to be able to hire anyone who knows how to write English lyrics for shit - everyone who has written English lyrics for her seems to be native Japanese as well. Being fluent in a language and knowing how to express yourself poetically in it are two different things.
English-speaking audiences are far more accepting of awkward English lyrics in songs clearly meant for a Japanese audience, especially when they have a whole story with great visuals to associate it with. But if you don't have that, then the bar goes up a lot higher. It doesn't help that the people running the project were so laser-focused on the "She is a Hope Nephilim" shit at least at the start, to the point that her first two albums are basically entire volumes of character songs - for a character that exists only on a character sheet somewhere, not the IryS people see on stream.
