Setting aside the shitposting for a second, I think the trajectory of Mori's music career says something about the potential and limitations of vtuber music in general. On the one hand, your audience acts as guaranteed listeners which can give vtubers a higher floor than random SoundCloud rappers. On the other hand, it's difficult for vtubers to attain mainstream success no matter how many views they have. Vtubers often top the charts when they release new songs, but it doesn't seem to lead to them gaining listeners from non-vtuber fans.
