Thanks for the feedback! The CPU cost of the rendering is surprisingly low - much less than tracking, and when I move to a slightly less shitty laptop I don't anticipate problems.
Even now there's a bit more complexity than just a static grid of colored letters - see outline around head, different characters for eye and mouth, shirt, coat, etc. Eventually I'll try more intense outlining closer to pic related, it's actually not too bad, mostly just detecting borders between sufficiently-different colors and choosing the right border character based on the surrounding pixels. Maybe we'll do it on stream.

Yeah, it definitely is in my experience - when too many characters are changing each frame, it's not easy on the eyes, especially since tracking tends to jump around by small amounts constantly. That's why I originally chose the static text with changing colors, and why the majority of filled areas on the model will stay that way. IDK, we'll find the right balance eventually. I want it to be really really impressive and it's not quite there yet.

Strive is the most casualized of the Guilty Gear series.

Practice only streams are horrifically boring and you only ever see audiences stick around for them if you're a high level player figuring out a new character or doing practice mode between sets. Rare exceptions for some pros that just grind combos and punish tech on stream.

The channel is old, that's true, but I've only recently started vtubing (~2 weeks) and advertising the channel in any way. Before, I'd say about a month ago, all I would do is just hit go live and whatever I get from randoms looking at games on Twitch is what I'd get, some stick around, some don't.
If nothing stood out as garish, then that's a hopeful sign! All I need to do now is just get that initial click.
I have a few clips that I'm going to be turning into YouTube Shorts as a start for more "opportunities to find me". Well, that, and posting here in the first place.

This thread was a mistake for sure during the /auds/ era but it has produced good chuubas
I found weird this "gen" reluctance to move out but then again /wvt/ has become considerably worse since the trash schizos moved.

The way I see it, /svt/ as you propose it was what the front desk wvt used to be, and current wvt is wvt trash redux, the retro wvt or the incestous cringhole where chuubas kept themselves hiding from the evil holo tourists or something.

Don't worry too much about getting the headshape right, you can hide most of it with hair and no one will ever see it.
I would say the jawbone is far too long. If you follow a reference pic for the profile don't copy it 1:1. I tried to mark how I would do the jaw.
You don't have to model a complete eyeball an empty socked with a floating circle is probably easier to work with, if you bend the circle a bit they look like they follow the viewer from different angles.
I also think that you can easily delete a few of the loops around your eyes, no need to have a million vertices there.
Same goes for your mouth.
Did you try messing around with some sculpt tools? You can easily fix the general shape of your head with tools like smooth, inflate, grab and elastic deform.

If you end up working on another character I think you should try to work with less vertices to start with.
It takes forever to adjust a million vertices by hand and they're mostly unnecessary since as they don't really change the overall shape of the head.
It just gets harder to smooth them out.
A little trick for the head shape is to use a uv sphere with the snap on tool to get the roundness right.
If you have a reference for the front and side view of your character try to follow mostly the front view and adjust the profile as necessary.

You don't have to join the sphere with the head, if you keep it as a separate object you can just extrude the forehead of your character and follow along the sphere without messing up your topology.

yeah, the resolution youre limited to is quite small for the free version. you dont need to be super zoomed in for it to be noticeable but if you dont care about that you should be fine. parameters are the things you use to help make your vtuber move. if youve used premiere or something its similar to keyframes in those. you add points then the vtuber moves between those points
