I do wonder how many of these digital projects Cover is doing will pan out in the end. Sometimes it feels like they're looking for things to spend their money on (or dreaming of the time they were still a tech company) rather than focusing enough on their strengths and building resilience.
Off the top of my head we have a MMO/metaverse thing, a replacement social network and a replacement streaming platform. I can understand their concerns about being dependent on Youtube and Twitter, but wouldn't it make more sense to diversify their online presence rather than sink time and money into replacements that will lack the network effects that helped make them so successful in the first place.

Well, the main issue there is whether they can even begin to afford it. I'm really interested to know how they think they're going to keep the 'streaming platform' running. Reliable bandwidth isn't cheap. Going by something like AWS outbound traffic costs a single stream of, say, a Suisei concert with 150K viewers at 1080p60fps for an hour would cost them 54,000 USD. If it could be done much cheaper, why is AWS at that price point? Where are the alternatives?
But even then that's just the base cost, and this isn't just about data delivery but low-latency, hitchless, high-bandwidth, simultaneous globe-spanning data delivery. That requires a level of investment that seems far above what Cover can afford, and a level of technical talent that is assuredly absent at Cover currently seeing as the holos still have issues with even getting their L2D apps to stay connected in the same damn room.

I DO have two main concerns:
1) Do they have the technical chops to make HoloEarth a quality bug-free experience, properly supported by both dev and ops teams
2) The inherently insular and non-casual nature of a Cover-specific app that requires installation and is disconnected from the YT algo
That second point is also why I concerns about HoloPlus as an alternative to twitter/reddit/other social media - it'll probably be fine for existing fans, but how will it attract new users outside holodom without any network effects?
