I gave it a chance many times over several years and it always had horrendous glitches such as visual aberrations when decoding videos. I also don't like the way it works and think it is ugly. at least yt-dlp seems to save the stream if you point it to the direct stream url (as in youtube/watch?v=xxx) when it's already live. not while waiting for the stream to begin, but when the stream starts (the "waiting for Pika" animation is already the stream).
however, you usually get fewer format options, for me yt-dlp craps out with "format requested not available" with bv+ba, but -f - lets you select format by id numbers interactively.

Pika became detached and traumatized when monoe was fired. She kept going because she loved her fans. Her community turning on her was the straw the broke the camel's back, she realized no one actually cared about her as a person and just saw her as a avatar/content generator. She realized she was trapped in a dying company that wouldn't let her be free.

Monoe and Tomoshika were her friends and the true reason she kept streaming. And pretty soon they're finally going to be streaming together again (under different names, of course).

Vod archivist of another general here, Idk if this is of any help but i made an 100% complete archive of my "oshi's" streams before and what helped finding missing vods was to make a spreadsheet of all her vods (using data from twitch tracker/playboard.co for youtube) and checkmark the vods i have and then make a list of missing vods and start ritualposting in her general asking for those missing vods until it was complete. Idk if its an option for pikamee as i have no idea how regular /VOMS/ threads are to do this in this case, but having a list of missing vods might help to be able to search for them if you want to get an 100% complete archive together.

Hell if you have a list of missing vods (preferably with the date/title of the original vod and maybe the runtime) i can try and ask around as well. It cant hurt to have several people asking around to try and find these missing vods to try and go for 100% completion for this archive. Might take some austism to get there, but it should be possible unless she has hundreds of missing vods (which doesnt seem to be the case for pikamee).
