It's possible she has an autism-esque condition that stems from poor social development as a teenager. You see it a lot in people that are bullied but creative, like the typical art student, classical band geek, or TTRPG fans. Instead of developing proper social aptitude they retreat into their hobbies. This is different from normal autism because it's almost exclusively conditioning creating an underdeveloped aspect of the personality, as opposed to being a more physical mental defect.
