From what I remember she's really only got a basic understanding of Cantonese, which is why when someone sent a supachat in it she did require translate to read most of it.
Do note that apparently that supachat was apparently full of slang/idiom so that's why she struggled with it as well.
Also Paparat seems to be pretty based and has embraced Aussie the lifestyle, so he's a top bloke and a good one.

While it's a shame us Anglophones are mostly monolingual, there is a clear reason and pattern as to who is trilingual. If you're first language isn't English, you will always benefit from learning it. There is not an instance, except for maybe being born in North Korea, that it couldn't help. But that's the default language every non-English native speaker would do. If there is another lingua franca in your region that's not your native language, it is likely you learn that before English, but if you learn another, you learn English. But once all of that is done, in this industry, Japanese is important and can help you get into Hololive.

If English was your first language, there is not another language of such global importance to learn, so that reason is gone. If it's your first language, there is likely not another local lingua franca you would need to learn since English would already be that, unless you move to another region. If you have no experience learning another language in a real way, then learning Japanese is a major fucking hurdle. However, it can be done. But if you had good reason to learn Japanese as an English speaker, learning a 3rd language would serve no purpose. So the most you would ever see is bilingual, if even that.

As for Japanese native speakers, they live in an ethnostate with little migration out and plenty of entertainment. And their English education is pretty shitty, so monolingualism is pretty common, even if learning English would be beneficial.

>t. newfag that also doesn't know any swedish
She says hi using two different slang versions, with the correct swedish inflection. Even if she isn't completely fluent, she has been exposed to it a lot to pick up on stuff like that.
Also, she has streamed DBD in swedish before.

That's Ollie, alright, as well as most of the other branch. Although I'd consider Ollie's English somewhere between fluent and native, given that she seems to have gotten to a point where she considers herself competent in the language, but her grasp of idiomatic expressions is bad (using things like yours truly as emphasis when it refers to the speaker, likes to use direct Indonesian translations without taking into account that said translation can be nonsensical), she has a tendency of using Indonesian in place of really elementary English words, and her syntax is a little off (her grasp of verb conjugations shits the bed if there's a word before an infinitive or if there sentence's finite verb is did).

The thing that some people say makes her English better than most native's is that she knows elementary grammar terms such as present tense, present continuous, etc., which are definitely helpful when explaining, teaching, and learning English grammar but aren't particularly useful past a certain point of proficiency.

With Indonesian, all I can really tell is that her vocabulary has gaps in it.

I really should've proofread this post but whatever, the only correction is that Ollie uses yours truly to emphasize sentences involving another talent. Also, Ollie's written English is worse than her spoken English, but I think that's because Ollie likes to write idiomatic expressions more than she likes to say them.

Anya's English is also interesting because it seems to be better around verb conjugation, but she messes up pronunciation and plurals a lot.
