From what I understand, logging into the app would require second factor authentication through SMS, and now that the SMS function was removed it means she cannot receive the code through SMS to unlock her account.
It's like you're living in a closed apartment complex that requires an electronic key card to enter the building and you also your own key for your apartment, but the building owner removed the key card readers from the buildings' entrances so now you're stuck outside waiting for a staff member to come unlock the door for you and either give you a different key that unlock the entrance doors or makes them open automatically.
