Today's stream of HoloFightZ left me with mixed emotions. As a lifelong fan of the show, I appreciate the athleticism and spectacle of fast-paced action, but I also value storytelling and psychology in the ring. WWE 2k23 has left me feeling a little bit underwhelmed. While I can appreciate the high-octane action and dazzling visual effects enabled by this new format, it has left me feeling a little bit wanting. I am someone who enjoys high-adrenaline matches but also psychological technical fighting. This particular show seemed to prioritize the former over the latter, resulting in matches that were a bit too frenetic for my taste.

In some of the matches, it felt like the competitors were just throwing move after move at each other with little regard for pacing or storytelling. In fact, the matches overall felt more like acrobatic exhibitions than actual contests with stakes and consequences. This was most evident in the Miko and Haato fight.The pace of that match was too fast to allow for any meaningful story or character development.

As a result, the matches felt somewhat hollow and unsatisfying. It was as if the fighters were just going through the motions, trying to cram as many flashy moves into the allotted time as possible. There was no sense of drama or tension, no real sense of investment in the outcome. The typical seeds for interesting storylines certainly existed, Subaru seems to no longer be a jobber, and EN representatives are still monsters in the ring, but it has largely been a lukewarm debut for 2k23.

When I first heard of 2k23 including War Games as its biggest addition, I was excited to see it. After witnessing how it actually played out, I felt less than satisfied. Part of the problem may have been that there were too many wrestlers involved. With so many bodies in the ring, it was hard to really focus on any one storyline or rivalry. And while it's always exciting to see a bunch of talented wrestlers in one match, sometimes less is more when it comes to creating a truly memorable experience.

Another problem might be that the teams for this match type were not wrestlers that had a deep storyline to resolve or a storied history together. While it was understandable given the limitations of WWE 2k23 coming out only recently, maybe it was too soon to bring out the new mode.

In the end, I suppose it all comes down to personal preference. If you're the sort of fan who values high-flying action and acrobatics above all else, then WWE 2k23 streams will likely be right up your alley. But for me, I need a bit more substance and psychology in my sports entertainment. While there were certainly some impressive displays of athleticism on display, the overall experience left me feeling a bit underwhelmed.

Unfortunately, today's show was sandwiched between HoloFes and /vt/ League Finals, and while it works as a nice filler between the entire kino of today, it is one of the weaker HoloFightZ episodes.

It's been getting teased long enough, so it's time to start actually planning for it.

Each Thread will be permitted to submit one representative.
Submissions can be instructions to create a wrestler in 2k22, or an upload to 2k22 with the proper tags.

Representatives must:
>Use a male CAW base. This does not exclude female submissions, but due to how 2k22 does not allow female CAWs to participate in large amounts of match types, CAW submissions with a female base will not be accepted.
>All stats are 20 under their maximum by default. You may increase up to 4 stats of your choice to maximum in exchange for reducing the same number of stats by 20 each.
>Custom personality sliders
>Finishers and Signature moves must be custom-selected in the moveset creator. It is preferable if the entire moveset is customized, but this is not mandatory.
>Payback can be customized. (Resiliency is default)
>Customized name, location of origin, and entrance (No "FROM NEW YORK, THE SUPERSTAR" will be accepted)
>A unique, customized appearance.
>The name of the thread they are meant to represent somewhere in the description, name, or social media handle of the wrestler

If you are submitting instructions for somebody to create a wrestler on your behalf, please also include:
>The weight class (Cruiserweight, Light Heavyweight, Heavyweight, or Super Heavyweight)
>The Wrestler Style (Technician, Striker, High-Flyer, Powerhouse)

Optional Things that can be included with submissions:
>Entrance music (every entrant will have entrance music, but it will be picked for you if not included; keep in mind that entrance/victory music are the same music. You only get one track.)
>An image of what the wrestler should look like (especially important if instructing somebody else to recreate something you made in a cracked version of 2k22)
>A list of threads (no more than 5) that you would be willing to tag with, listed in order of priority. If you and one of those threads are mutually interested in forming a tag team, If enough teams are formed this way, tag team events will be added to the match card.

>Do I need my thread's permission to submit a wrestler on their behalf?
It is preferred that the thread itself be into the idea of having a representatitve and contribute in some way to its representation, as opposed to just one guy doing everything of their own volition, but at this time we are not requiring you to obtain recorded Proof of Interest like /vt/ League does. We do, however, reserve the right to call you a faggot and reject your submission if it's clear you're trying to be a dickhead or falseflagging.

>Do I need to own WWE 2k22 to participate?
No. You can make a wrestler's appearance in a cracked version of the game, then include those images in your submission. However, cracked versions of the game cannot upload wrestlers themselves. If you intend to make a wrestler to upload, you'll need a legal copy.
>What match types should I plan for?
Match Types will depend on number of entrants and interest. It is adviseable that you plan around the common match types (One Pinfall/Submission; Tables; Battle Royale/Royal Rumble; Elimination Chamber; First Blood; Tag matches if you have that as an interested party). Other match types may be used.
>What format will the tournament be in? 1v1s all the way down?
Depends on the number of entrants. The plan is to use larger group match types to thin down the crowd, then use progressively smaller match groupings until we can go to 1v1s for the rest of the tournament, culminating in one thread winning the Lord of the Board belt. If there are enough entrants, a Royal Rumble will be used to determine seeding, then the event will progress from there.

Divegrass has not only been around for 12 years, but they do their own cracks, patches, and hosting of PES versions. They also require you to have PES for all managers and caretakers.
We're a mudshow that's just getting off the ground, and we don't have the kind of resources to host our own cracks of the game. Also, LotB does not require the participants to use 2k22 at any point themselves, and will be offering help making shit for people that don't have the game or can't find a crack of it.
You would need the crack only for your own convenience of reference, since you can't upload anything you make on it. Considering the jannies on /vt/ are retards and will shoot for fucking any reason, it's not worth the inherent risk of even pointing in the general direction of a crack for the game when you don't need it.

Since the slot doesn't appear to abide by any limitations, larger match types (such as tag-team) won't revert back to the default model as seen with 2K22. So what can be confirmed is the following:

>Custom wrestler slots have been expanded by 200+ nor do you need to delete your save data to apply these changes via Meta 2.0
>Modding belts, arenas and graphics is identical to 2K22 and the tools/templates are being updated swiftly. Some are in beta testing right now
>Hidden move and entrance data files are identical to 2K22, which can be applied via cheat-engine (assuming you know the ID)
>Non-modding wise, WhatTheStaus has found a glitch to upload female CAWs as males. I know you guys don't use females, but something to consider

Only a week deep and with the OP's comfortable with 2K22, 20 and 19. No shame in TRYING some basic mods with 2K23 if the tool-sets drop early enough.

Submissions for actual wrestlers will open on April 13th @ 12a ET. In the time between now and then, resources will be collected/created for the use of aspiring thread reps, which will include a list of all of the ingame moves, stat distributions, stat effects, and other repositories that can be used to be as autistic with your thread rep as you'd like without having to own 2k22 yourself. The goal, however, will be to allow minimal-autism builds to still be enjoyable competitors to watch, so you will not be required to go full moveset autist.

by custom wrestlers, they don't mean CaWs. At current, we can't rip 2k22/23 models to reimplement them in those blank slots yet. so at current it would be like the models seen in divegrass, ripped from 2k20.
i'll keep an eye on it with Divegrass Aesthetics guy and WDCOP, might be something for me to look into.
