The area I moved to is a mixture of French and German speakers. 15 years later I can converse in both of those, including Bulgarian and English. I don't know if people realize how big the gap between Kiara and pretty much any other Holo is. Her Japanese and English are both excellent and neither is even her native language. I've heard it said that one of the keys to learning a language is not just immersion, but a not being afraid to embarrass yourself. You have to throw yourself in there knowing you are making mistakes/will struggle and then learn from them. People who are shy about their poor language skills struggle to improve. Kiara never stops talking and has little to no shame, in addition to a great memory.

Kanji is necessary because Japanese is a homophonic language, a LOT of words sound the same but have actual different meanings. Even I despise Kanji to the core but I acknowledge that it helps in reading so that you know what that Japanese word specifically means. If they banned it and just used kana/alphabet, the language would end up as a mess. They also are too lazy to go the Korean route and have a genius artificially invent an alternative alphabet that deals with their homophonics problems.

No matter what you feel about her content, Kiara has that typical hardworking discipline that characterizes the race. She won't give up easily or roll over. Furthermore, on a more basic level, German is a very hard language to learn and Japanese is not. Germans are the only tourists who bother to learn a bit of Croatian and can use it if they're regularly here every summer. Croatian itself is a hard language to learn. To her Japanese poses no problem. Likewise she is sharp, there's definitely some intellectual ability in her. The dissonance may happen because of cultural differences - the Anglo is a born liar and cheater, he twists words in the talmudic fashion and is fond of backstabbing. Germans proper aren't like that. They're brutally honest and lack the liars subtlety. This is why their diplomacy was always shit. They simply can't deal with A not being A and have a will to a system. Meaning, Kiara is all in on being a vtuber, the rest is your own personal preference. That's what it boils down to. You like or dislike a girl based primarily around your own character.

Also something else: remember Kiara's improvisational stream she did because Ina fell asleep? That wasn't just her natural ability to talk a lot. It's an actual thing German TV people used and do use, I don't know its name but I've watched enough German programming to recognize it when I see it. Keep in mind, this is a professional tactic - an endless stream of words, improvised on the spot, to fill dead air. I've seen Charlotte Roche do it back in the days of Viva Zwei (the BEST music channel that EVER was).

A lot of their problems would go away if they just bothered to introduce different characters for syllables that sounds similar to western ones (like L and R) and selectively assign a word meaning to each word, thus reducing the number of homophones. Their language already has a lot of loan words in current usage which is mostly Katakana. The only big problem is spacing, I guess.

They legitimately can convert their day-to-day language with little problems as it currently stands today.
