Kanji is hard as shit but katakana and hiragana can be learnt and memorized in a week if you put the effort. It took me longer than that to actually be able to write in both somewhat quickly from memory but its something you can master in a month if youre looking for a somehwat easy and fun thing to learn.

i have lerned written japanese to some extent, after figuring out gramatical structure and exemptions of japanese language i made a decision to ditch it's writing system( like honestly, for me it made no sense, i coud't fit in my head more than 300 kanjis) for my own logically created one(latin based), i know it seams dumb, but I lerned japanese for fun of it, i have no intention to work or live there, and it's fun to optimaze unoptimized languages, i mean it for all east asian languages that essentially are using hieroglyphs, i simply detest it.
Also, to be fair i understand about 75 to 90% of japanese, if there are some archaic phrases i might have difficulties to understand it, but generally if i don't know a word or phrase i just deconstruct it by using "romaji" it's easier. also Vtubers are using language so simple that it's easy enough.
