Most merch I don't actually WANT to own, I'd buy it to support my oshi, but with shipping being so outrageously expensive, she gets a lot more from a superchat.
Youtube takes 30%, Cover takes 35%, so from an akasupa my oshi gets only 35 bucks. That's already 35 more than from the $100 shipping they charge me. And superchat has no reproduction cost, unlike physical merch.

Cover has always been miserly with holoEN and even at the peak of the EN vtuber market they wouldn't open a US warehouse. With the EN market reclining there is now even less chance of them doing that. I'm the opposite. I found dakis to be the optimal merch for me since they take close to 0 space when not in use and are a decent display item otherwise.

Also if we're being honest, from this side of the screen, the forefront of HoloJP just plain works harder than the forefront of HoloEN. They wouldn't do that if they didn't like their fans, so that effort is reciprocated. There's nothing like that in EN, there's feelings, at least from the fans, but there isn't visible effort to stream, or think about the fans entertainment while streaming.
