If you can stomach looking at the Twitter profiles of a few of those people who are the most vocal, you find that most of them actually have very little or just a superficial involvement with VTubers (if they have any involvement at all), and are mostly just in it because it is the latest popular trend. They don't understand anything about the culture surrounding the hobby (and what little they understand usually gets miscronstrued as "muh toxic idol culture") and mostly just posture to virtue-signal because they think this is another social justice battlefield where they can score some easy brownie points. TLDR: They just want to turn VTubing into another propaganda machine for their political agenda while pretending they're doing the talents a favor by "fighting for their freedom" or some shit (which is of course ridiculous since that would imply that these girls didn't join Hololive by choice and/or know what joining Holo entailed).

Personally I find the mixed gender collabs just as entertaining as regular collabs and the collabs that I have watched all seemed decently professional and I didn't feel like I was being 'third-wheeled' which seems to be the majority of complaints when it comes to homo collabs. That said, just because I can appreciate the collabs doesn't mean I'd demand them, especially from holos that don't want to do them. You're correct. HoloLIVE sold itself like that, not HoloPRO. HoloSTARS is not HoloLIVE, that's why they have different names. That being said it's the talents choice to collab with each other, which is exactly what happens, and both branches receive the same amount of attention when Uproar can get their 3D debuts as soon as Holox got theirs, not to mention the Stars also have their own concert and have a place on HoloExpo even when the absolute majority of the attendees are there for HoloLIVE.
