They say death gives life meaning but idk if that's true. What I do know is it can really make you want to cling to your life as if it does have meaning. I was wondering the other day if the default of life is to suffer unless drugged up, as if being drugged up is a wrong and false way to live. Is it? Does it matter what makes you happy as long as you're happy? All you are at the end of the day is a lump of cells reacting to stimuli, so shouldn't the priority be to maximize the good feelings for as long as possible? When given the hypothetical option, most people would not get in the cryo pod to live a simulation of a perfect life because it wouldn't be "real". The awful stuff in life makes the good seem good in comparison. Without the bad, is the good really even that good? Without fear of death, would anyone really enjoy life?

Fear is a powerful motivator. Like any good drug, at a low dose it can give your brain the boost it needs to grow and progress, but for an addict, you're always looking for the highest high. High doses of fear can and will paralyze. To live your life paralyzed in fear is truly the most pathetic way to spend your short time existing. What am I even afraid of?
