Normies actively require drama to stay interested in something and 2views need normies need normies to be their audience to stay afloat, the timeline is essentially thus:
>Vtubers are few and the audience is small but large enough to sustain them
>Clips and COVID see an audience explosion so many new vtubers crop up to take advantage of them
>Because the new audience is largely western new vtubers pivot to appeal to them, this pleases the normies but loses the original fans
>Normies are fickle and don't consider watching vtubers a hobby the way the original fans do, they start to get bored and move on
>The vtubers that require the normie audience are now desperate to stop the normies from leaving and as such create drama, spout politics all the while disparaging the original vtuber audience that shunned them in the first place
Eventually the drama in the vtuber community will die down as the market contracts but until then we'll just have to endure

It's the same as usual. There are more tourists from other boards as time goes on though, and the absolute lack of moderation makes many of them stay to shitpost. It's actually impressive we manage to keep so many generals alive despite the state of the board
