I haven't left, but my interest in the whole thing is about 20% of what it once was back in 2020-2021. I'm a yurofag who mainly watches EN, and I rarely find myself staying awake to watch streams anymore. A few years ago I would happily stay up for streams that even started at 3am.

Two reasons. The first is that the community is annoying as hell and full of schizos and tribalism and dramawhores. The second reason is I gave 2views a try and found that I enjoy being able to talk with a streamer; it's more fun than just watching without any interaction. It's why I don't watch any of the other big corpos either.

- Special events spam. Concerts and the like lost their novelty.
- Lack of external collabs. No new and unique interactions between members.

- Pandering to redditors and EOPs.

There wasn't any single big reason, just little things that started to irk me after a while. I felt that Hololive had become too predictable which is why I decided to check out some other vtubers. After I started branching out these problems became more evident and I eventually stopped following them altogether.
I still watch some clips from time to time (mainly on /wsg/) and check out some streams whenever /vt/ starts hyping up something just to see if anything's changed, but it's always the same.

The permission issues aren't that bad anymore. There are limitations, but everyone could still pick a different game to play if they wanted to.

Coco's unpersoning by Cover through the first half of 2021 started to sour me on the company as a whole. The huge collab she had with EN that May and June was just too little too late, and came across to me as bittersweet.
Then, Myth all taking breaks around the same time around Summer 2021 made me start looking more at small corpos and indies. Most of the ones I saw at that time I still keep up with, where as I pretty much stopped watching Myth at that point.
Came back a little for IRyS and Council, but Council during their first month was just okay, and I ended choosing the indies and small corpos I picked up more and more often than HoloEN. And then I just kind of stopped caring about HoloEN much at all by the end of 2021.

I still occasionally watch some HoloJP because I had already been watching Roboco and Choco long before EN was a thing. But my interest in the big concerts and the company as a whole is nearly zero now.

I don't think they were ever quite like this, but I get the idea, it was also why I got into Hololive despite starting on Nijisanji. Pre-2020 they were rougher, more daring, experimental, unpredictable. They were free to take the occasional misstep because they had much less to lose from doing so, and they didn't have that sanitized corpo stench lingering around them yet.

Now they're the definitive milquetoast vtubers, safe, samey, marketable and comfortably mediocre across the board. Babby's first introduction to vtubers. With the novelty of the 2D avatars and cute voices largely normalized to baseline, you just kinda notice that they're not all that impressive as variety entertainers (granted they're likely being held in check by management), even with their years of experience. Yeah, Suisei's a good singer, and Botan's good at shooters, but that's basically it for them. They can't sing or do shootan all stream every stream. Other holomems' streams feel like clip farms sometimes, just slogging through the shit to get to a half-minute of worthwhile watching.

So I just slowly slipped away over time.
