I think vtubers, after staring at their own model for so long, start noticing it's flaws and are always moving in such a way to minimize said flaws, such as avoiding making certain expressions that are janky, or moving in certain ways that reveal gaps in the textures. And after so long of doing this they grow to only see the flaws in the model and hate the model.
They "upgrade" to a new model which is inferior to the old one but feels fresh to their eyes.

Girldm. Not because its the very best, but because it targets more expressive features and therefore has a larger face and ears then most rig setups. But her current model while cute, is unironically stiff.

People act like girl_dm_'s 3D model had better rigging than most anyone but that's the level of quality all Artgun 3D models have. What sells the Calliope model is that the camera is setup to actually capture the eye movement, and having a audio studio setup with 3 or 4 monitors.

What sells Hololive's model isn't the rig quality, its that its consistent. Which is a different thing than some vtuber getting a new model each 3 month, with random rig quality and artwork quality.
