Yeah, basically this. Thing is, that isn't a "bad" thing, as it has kept the small community we do have pretty stable.
Only issue I have is that if we want to see growth, we'll need L2D models. Nobody is gonna watch a pngtuber with low 2views that you recommend. There are thousands of those. Without capital that can't really change. Some are in the works I hear, but it'll be awhile. Slow burn is probably gonna be the norm for quite sometime.

We don't have a specific process exclusive to us, only a very small number of girls have an l2d and of those most of them did it themselves. In Minna's case, the rigger cut it themselves and talented riggers will be able to do that. However, in the industry at large it's more common for the artist to sell you a "l2d ready" cut png, and the artist and rigger will almost never interact.

I think vroid models are pretty charming, and some can be really accurate to some vtubers. Just the polycount/polygon edges seem to stand out usually as something that could be improved. But im guessing thats the engine/character creator limitation.

Those who have their AI generated models from an imperfect angle, how difficult would it be to generate an A pose image using a model built on their character and something like img2img of a more generic A pose you usually see in vtuber art? It works, but if you're trying to get a fullbody gen, you will typically get poor resolution even when at the highest base resolution and upscaling it. I've had best results with backwards engineering Minnas model to get nice head on bust up shots. Most vtubers will typically not use their entire model anyways so I think its worth the trade off for higher level of detail.

Yeah, that output was from img2img from another output that had significant issues (image cooking, fucked up top, no horns) but perfect pose and symmetry. Pretty easily fixed by just recoloring original image, I just wanted to show it's possible.
Another problem that arises though, is that for image cutting, you need to redraw large portions of the image. Doing that with the level of rendering Abyssorange gives you is nightmarish. The reason my earlier images were getting cooked was because I added 'thick lineart' as a tag. My rationale was that if I added that in, it'd give me simpler images that wouldn't be as bad to cut.

With VTubing, the character design is your brand. AI can't nail down details consistently, so it's practically like the 'face of the brand' changes every time you see them. Only natural that it feels 'off', but that's the nature of AI art. Especially since they are AI generated since conception, they don't have a single thing that 'anchors' all the variation. I've been trying to give you the benefit of a doubt but that's just a wrong statement, because AI art is by definition creating something from "traits" only, so as long as the prompters include the tags the art will always resemble the characters in some way or another.

I know what you are trying to say, you mean that it's hard for AI art to have key visual features that characters (especially vtubers) usually have that makes them recognizable. AI art has to mostly resort to broader visual themes (such as clothes, hairstyles, color scheme) and can't make something like pippa's hairclips. They aren't necessarily required to make a good design, but I get the notion that eventually you'd want to add more depth to the characters. Considering that at least 1 guy here is making Live2Ds maybe there is a valid point to think about certain features that you could include with those designs. A blatant choice would be adding a cheese / piggle hairclip to minta. (I don't think this is a very good design choice, but it illustrates what i mean).

I phrased my point horribly. I blame it on lack of sleep. But yes, I agree. Depth to the design. And I can't explain this well either, but there are some VTuber designs that regardless of outfit, hairstyle, or removal of features from base design, still feel like their character. An example would be, I don't know, Ironmouse? She's got over 4 models at this point I'm sure, all of them look different but it's still obvious it's her.

4 models? she has like 30. but actually mousey is a bad example because her consistent traits are actually not that complex. hairstyle (with 2 colors), horns and hearts as accessory / hairpin. You could make a tungsten rat in AI with relative ease. The issue is the designs here never really went through a rigorous design phase. Having an artist help out with character design and sitting down and genuinely helps streamlining it. With Coco i made the executive decision to change the dual layer jackets the AI was making with the initial prompts to a jacket and a turtleneck sweater below to make it overall more consistent and easier to discern. I never fleshed out the design because I didn't care so much and don't feel like spending too much money on prompting.

I think most of the talents' designs here are in a decent spot, but could definitely benefit from being more focused.
