not really. The difficulty in understanding miko is only due to her voice. Marine actually talks stupid fast and if you don't get it instantly then the joke fades away. Also she does a lot of wordplay and double meaning jokes that sometimes are based on kanji sounds.
Marine speaks a hard to understand japanese because her japanese is just better so she can play a lot with it whilst Miko's japanese is very basic.

Hololive EN1 was a flash in the pan. It was a novelty and they came out right after people watching translated JP clips exploded in the west. Thing is, the Japs are way more autistically dedicated to one thing than the average westerner.
So out comes EN1, and everyone tunes in for months on end at the start. People realized that they're just regular streamers and that all the clips they saw from JP were cherry picked from 20-40 hours a week of streaming. People just slowly moved back to their old regular streamers on shit like twitch. There will always be a small subsection of westerners who stay dedicated and obsessed with vtubers/Hololive, but we're just seeing the result of people falling off the hype wagon. The only reason Gura hasn't been completely wrecked like all of her genmates is because she rarely streams now so people make sure to show up and watch AND she had the most casual appeal/was the most pushed by the average bandwagoner at the start.

New is exciting and keeps people circulating in your brand to watch new interactions with old talent and to see how their streaming career unfolds. There was an 11 month gap between Myth and Council while the gap between Council and EN3 will be at least 20 months. The EN market was reclining but holoEN did lose momentum because Cover allowed the branch to stagnate because they were entirely focused on Tempus.
