I tottaly get supporting people whose content you enjoy, but they're litterally millionares. I don't understand why you'd spend your income which is almost certainly magnitudes lower than theirs in donations to them. All of their content is free!

Because I love their content, I want to fund them to do more.

Attention, superchatted Sora a lot before, it’s cute when she tries to say English sentences. But I moved on to buying concert tickets and memberships because it has more value for money. Holos aren’t really reading superchats anymore too. I guess maybe Watame remains to do it. I’m only talking about jp holos, no idea on ENs.

funny cause the richer they are the lazier and/or mentally unstable they get which leads to less streams

The top ones are borderline millionaires but the others are lucky if they have a middle class income. I've noticed that recently JPs are reading donations less since the cost of living rises hit Japan.

Imagine, if you will, going to a live concert or music festival to see a band that you like and having the opportunity for them to shout out "hey, thanks anon, you're great" and all you needed to do was pay $10. Would you do it? If you wouldn't how many would? The feeling of being acknowledged by someone you respect or even love in front of hundreds or thousands of others is, for some, intoxicating. There are many reasons why people donate but that is why they get addicted.

>millionares, yep for the top vtubers or big indies maybe
>Youtube cut, company cut, big tax cut
>3D live you have to fund it yourself
>Songs, covers you have to fund it yourself
Oilie literally have to work part time to pay for living expenses
Watame mentioned her salary will be zero for a few months because she invested it all in her songs.

>Why do people donate to vtubers?
Because my oshi has to stop streaming if she can no longer earn a living wage from it. And I don't want her to stop streaming anytime soon. Got any more stupid questions, OP?

The people who think they're all millionaires are kids who don't have any real life experience or knowledge on how talent contracts work. Not every corporate vtuber is a Guwa who sells merch by the bucket loads so doesn't even have to stream.

What >>42598557 said. My oshi is in a small corpo and is not getting rich from streaming, so I donate a bit of mine so that she can keep doing it.

"Never donate to someone richer than you" is one of my favorite mottos.

Song covers aren't that expensive. Stop believing everything you hear.
