I like RE:7 in concept and it was fun for a first time through but it yeah, quite brutally is pretty fucking boring most of the time. Running around the house when the enemies are all dead, just silent, boring. Combat usually ends instantly.
Also some of the wonder might have been taken out of IRyS by her just knowing the outcome anyway because she played the sequel before the first game.
I think these TPS games are certainly more up her ally although RE:2 remake and 3 remake have some of the same inventory managment issues that 7 has
