Too big to fail. The algorithm gives priority to content creators who are already popular. So if you look to English VTubers, it will recommend Gura and Calli long before Baelz, even though the rat is far more active than the shark. This applies to all genres of the site.

All this system does is widen the gap between big and small channels, and increases the luck required to break out even more. The VTubers in Hololive at least get the Holo buff, but there’s a reason that so many indies fail.
