Fans turned haters are far more hateful than natural antis. Most antis are just shitposting because they're bored, but the converted know their former oshi well enough to make very personal, spiteful criticisms.

Everyone was self-inserting as Vesper or treating him as the friend they never had. His fanbase was overwhelmingly parasocial and the same people were defending him for months over the shit that he's getting criticized for now. So we've got a bunch of people looking at how their self-insert reflects on them or being disappointed in someone that they considered a friend "betraying" them.
