They do their job in that they are there for when the old thread dies, not to mention they're also sometimes based off previous thread discussion or at least have a running theme. Disliking early threads is basically an overused joke of /wg/ at this point, threads are still usable after bump limit, nobody's forcing you to move to the new one straight away. Sure, overall I would still rather the thread be made after the old one gets pushed off, but making ANOTHER fucking /wg/ thread just so it's "not an early thread" is way, way fucking worse. What's the damn point? If a thread is already there what difference does it make?

Not an easy question to answer, but I’ll tell you this much: music can set the tone on what you’re writing, it can even help you when you have writer blocks, but it has to be the right music for YOU. It just can’t be for someone else’s recommendations. The music also has to correspond with that you’re trying to write/tell. Having a song, that’s the opposite will just hinder you more than anything.

If you’d like to hear about my experience with music, I’ve found that music only really helps me when I have a clear picture in mind of what I want to write. If I’m struggling to get the words down or don’t know where to go with the plot next, I need complete silence.

Having my current chapter proofread by my beta-reader now. I already started on the next since I got a cheating head start because A part I was going to use in the previous chapter fits well right at the start of the next. The fact of the matter is showing up on /wg/ isn't just a function of viewer popularity. If that were the case HoloEN fics would dominate the archive and NijiEN fics would show a steady upward trend as opposed to barely existing. No, the dirty secret of /wg/ is that to write chuuba fanfiction, you need buy-in regarding vtubers as 'anime characters that stream' as opposed to 'streamers with an anime avatar'. Looking at the characters this way avoids stepping into the insanely creepy realm of real person fic and opens up all sorts of scenarios. Currently this is still possible with HoloJP (keyfabe + Japanese language barrier), very very hard to do with HoloEN, and impossible with NijiEN. I won't mention NijiJP because nobody who isn't Japanese watches them.

Once you keep this in mind, the composition (and the changes in composition) of /wg/'s archive makes perfect sense. The early days of /wg/, when there was almost total buy-in, were overwhelmingly HoloEN fics, eclipsing HoloJP fics by a noticeable amount. As time passes and it becomes more and more obvious EN can't, to put it diplomatically, really hold up to the keyfabe-driven JP model, the amount of EN fics starts declining while the amount of HoloJP fics grows or at the very least doesn't truly drop much.

For a good chunk of /wg/'s existence there's zero Niji fics because NijiEN doesn't exist yet, but once it releases you can see the same pattern where there's a bunch of fanfiction during the Lazulight/Obsydia honeymoon period, starts getting shakey when Ethyria debuts and the branch begins its transition into Twitch-lite, and then NijiEN pretty much disappears from the archive once the male waves drop and start fagging the whole branch up.

tl;dr - The easier a vtuber is to see as a 'character' as opposed to as a 'streamer', the more fics she's likely to get on /wg/.
