>Maybe, MAYBE if viewers were familiar with him before hand things would had gone way differently. Also didnt help how he pretty much took over the stream.
Anyone showing up and interrupting the ASMR would have angered some people, but there are different degrees of backlash.
Pippa or Yuri showing up would have a few guys get grumpy about it because it interrupts the ASMR but they like them a lot so it would just be a footnote on the donothon, we'd get a few posts complaining about it but it wouldn't spiral this way or blow up multiple generals.
Same with any other Phase Connect girl, maybe some girls would get more posts complaining than others.
A non-Phase Connect girl like Nyaru showing would get more heat because she's not one of them but it wouldn't blow up this badly either. The complains would be louder, but still not this bad.
If we were only talking about girls I think a well known girl would cause a much weaker negative reaction to a random girl people had never met because she'd already have fans or supporters here, people would already have their initial reaction to her and she wouldn't feel like a stranger.
But with a guy it's complicated. I think it would actually be worse if he had been on stream before.
People list the reasons this was a bad yab and mention it was a random guy showing up like if that factor specifically was a bad thing, and I'm sure some fans don't mind male collabs at all and to them a girl and a guy are the same so they would be less negative towards a guy they had known already just like some fans would be less negative towards a girl they had already met before.
But people also say they're fucking behind the scenes already, some accuse him of being a groomer and a sexpest.
And they've only seen them interact once.
Now imagine if that was a recurring thing instead.
That sort of accusations would have way more fuel. This is what leads some collabs to really piss off fans. Like the Reimu x Vox shit, Vox's fangirls know Reimu already but instead of making things better it makes them worse because they hate seeing Vox with her.
I think past some point they would start to filter the fans that dislike this sort of thing and the backlash to it would diminish but at that point we're basically talking about a completely different hypothetical fanbase of likers who had already been filtered.
With the current fanbase she has if he had showed up before I think his recent appearance would have led to an even bigger blowback.
