Preheat oven to 425°F.

Yeah, he's skilled at games, plays some obscure stuff not many people play, good at chat interaction, cute voice. He pretty much has everything you need to be a good VTuber except for the sanity part. Ocarina of time is a good thing to stream. A lot of people enjoy seeing new playthroughs. Viewership wise it tends to do decently as well.

Otherwise, sometimes I'll look up what the "best" games for a console were and see if any of the interest me.

I'm biased but the Donkey Kong Country series (especially 1 and 2) are some of the best of their era and my absolute favorites. if you have to pick one then DKC2 blows every other game out of the water. soundtrack is godly and the bosses are unique

The Restident Evil 1 remake is technically retro and is on steam! It looks great for it's time because it has prerendered backgrounds, but initially came out for game cube. The original Resident Evil 2 (I used the gamecube port when I played it.) Is goofy fun imo. I like it more than the remake.

I also recommend streaming ANY retro game under the retro category otherwise you won't get much discovery. I think Ocarina of time you'd be fine to stream in it's actually category though since it's that popular.

Have you played Super Mario 64? It's a great platformer and should be right up your alley in the sense that it just gets right down to business with the gameplay. I agree with the Donkey Kong Country recommendation too but those games can be pretty challenging for a newbie and I think you might find SM64 a bit more forgiving in that regard (though it still has its difficult parts). For some similar options I would also recommend Banjo-Kazooie and its sequel Banjo-Tooie.

there're at least 3 meanings that are implied when we say "retro games".

A. does it look like an old game?
B. does it play like an old game?
C. is it actually old? (let's say, 15y)

if an FPS game comes out tomorrow that looks pixelated like Doom, but has all the bells and whistles of a modern FPS (full 3D look, wall running, sliding, cover based movements, finishers/executions, etcs) it would fulfill A but not B and C.

by the end of 2023, Fallout 3 will fulfill C, but not A and B.

Legend of Grimrock fulfills B (old school blobber) but not A (nice 3d graphics) and C (2012)

i'm guessing most people will only call a game "retro" if it fulfilled each of ABC

setting a predetermined time frame to decide "retro-ness" doesn't really work because people wouldn't consider something retro until it's no longer being widely represented by the contemporary.

crt TVs have been pretty much replaced by LCD TVs but not everyone will call them retro just yet (to the layman, they look the same, they have a screen, some buttons, speakers, they're just thinner).
but if it had knobs and 2 metal rods sticking up from them, yep that's retro.

the modern bicycle frame was invented more than a hundred years ago but people wouldn't call a 50 year old bicycle retro because it still looks the same (as in the shape, more or less) as the bicycles they see every day.
but show them a penny farthing, yep that's retro.
