otsonny!! i miss comfy streams, but at least that's exactly what's in store for the remainder of the week. back to eastward today! sonny was very cute in this stream, and jumping back in was a little smoother since he didn't have as many voices to figure out off the bat (sammy is still silly and loud as ever). cue more dungeon crawling and a spiel from the mayor before we are banished to the surface for chapter two of the game, where the story begins to lose me a bit... some ominous cutscenes that make you wonder if you missed something, but i guess everything will be revealed in time. sonny also tends to roll along with the plot and make a few quips as opposed to offering genuine speculation, so we can just be confused together! gameplay on the surface brings new characters and new dungeons, which do offer some mildly interesting puzzles but don't quite ramp up in difficulty aside from a chase scene near the end of the chapter, after which the game takes a somewhat depressing turn. was everything we did in greenberg for naught? what's up with snake-voiced sam? what awaits our remaining cast in new dam city? find out next week! not a whole lot that's out-of-this-world-hilarious from eastward yet, but it does have its moments and i really enjoy getting to hear more of his VA. it's kind of funny how he really wasn't having any of whatever uva was doing... i don't 100% understand what her deal was either but i guess with the village eaten by the miasma that's behind us now.
if this trend of about three hours per chapter/stream continues i can see this being a more long-term series that might rival OoT in length. it's been pretty comfy so far even with the darker undertones, so if the plot stays interesting and he enjoys it i look forward to him finishing it (regardless of how dialogue-heavy it may be). thanks for a fun stream taichou, enjoy the rest of your night and i will be waiting for your cooking in mengen tomorrow! o7

Started vod-watching expecting to be entertained but Ver and Doppio's ygo collab somehow managed to exceed my expectations and then some. They both hit the required levels of chuuni and even with the noticeable difference in power levels in 2 of the matchups they still were able to make things fun. Really helps that neither of them were tryharding, it made for funny moments resulting from not fully comprehending the essay-length texts on some of the cards. More approachable viewing experience too. No prior ygo experience needed, vod was a good time and then some. Hope they do it again; seeing Ver nerd out about TCGs was cute.

I think a big thing is they actually seemed to do a fair bit of prior planning for the collab. Agreed upon deck budget, mix of gimmick decks like N/R only and RP duels, batsu was a small element but still helped give the duels stakes, both of them are passionate about the game and were able to laugh at dumb shit like Pio using fucking Goblin Assault Squad and Lucky Punch or Ver's yugiboomer Kaiba deck getting bodied, and just good chemistry between the two of them. Genuinely one of the most well thought out and realized collabs I've seen in recent memory even with a bit of tech issues.
