The general rule of thumb is Twitch if your content is primarily based on livestreaming and YouTube if your content is primarily pre-recorded and edited.

>Do you think there's an audience for X, Y, Z content?
First, ask yourself if you would watch a streamer of your skill and experience. Second, do a check on social media and look to see if other streamers are already creating similar content. Don't limit yourself to vtubers, include traditional real life streamers to scope out a potential audience.

I don't actually have any plans to try streaming or Vtubing,

My general recommendation would be to use something that isn't used often enough to get you overwritten on a google search.
For example Sherlock Holmes is public domain but if you search that you'll always get Holmes the character and never a vtuber.
Even Oliver Evans mainly gives the real guy instead of the Nijisanji Liver.
Mixing the names of two characters you like might work.
Like Edogawa Lupin.
Or maybe Remilia Knowledge if you're a girl.

I think Vegas 18 is the oldest version that's still getting peddled around (for now), and it's more than good enough if you have it. If you just want to make clips for traction, your biggest ROI will be learning to make dynamic subtitles. Basically, look up "making subtitles vegas" and get to studying. Any other fancy stuff can wait.

The real special sauce is Premiere + AE with Sapphire FX, but that's for pro-grade work and eats up a lot of time and money. Better to stick with DaVinci or Vegas 18 for starting out.

Personally I see Niji and Holo as the end game company for most indie aspies that haven't "made it" indie. A lot of the smaller corpo vtubers (Phase, AkioAir, Kawaii, Tsunderia, etc.) put in part time hours streaming, posting, marketing without the part time pay... Yeah I kind of wonder this too. Niji en is really starting to look like it is spreading itself a bit thin. Being a new niji now has so much less value attached to it than being a new niji even just a year ago. And every time they have a new wave it just gets harder for all the current nijis to keep up their numbers. check riggers on twitter, check their model showcases to see if it's above their payroll, if you think they can do it, ask.

It isn't a rigger should be able to tell you if they can or not do it. if they can, great. if not, just say thank you and move to someone else.

The same kind of thing is happening to them as niji, but as far as anyone can tell it seems unlikely that stars will even start to approach niji levels of expansion. The problem really is a problem of degree more so than anything. Being forced to shill to your audience for the benefit of your direct competition (your new corporates) really sucks, but if it is done slowly enough the growth of your pool of corpo audience can at least keep up so you can at a minimum keep even. I don't think this is true for niji.

The other big problem with nijis is that it seems like they have absolutely no problem with hiring multiple people that have very similar talents and archetypes to chuubas they already have. There is basically no guarantee that the wave after you debut they won't debut a new chuuba that is basically you but better causing you to lose a lot of your audience. Holo en appears to care more about that kind of thing, but that might just be because they have so many fewer chuubas so it's easier to find more niches to fill.

Converting a character to vrm is not that hard to do, i don't know how you do it in other programs but in Blender you just install this addon

I'm scared of sending my second audition for the holostarsEN. It's a much better one than the first, but as far as my "content" goes I haven't grown much because I work night shift and I haven't been able to stream or do much consistently, but they don't care about that, they want numbers. What worked for me is, unironically, getting slightly drunk. After two streams, I got the general idea of how this stuff works, and by the time the third stream came, I didn't feel nervous at all.
This, of course, is potentially a very dangerous crutch. If you can't control yourself or you continue being nervous even several streams later, you risk turning yourself into an alcoholic just to be able to stream. Even if you can control yourself and you get over your nervousness, you might end up feeling like your streams are good only when you're drunk. This is why I can't honestly recommend this approach. There's also the problem of whether you can even stand the taste of alcohol in the first place.
Both of these reasons is why you'd be doing this on your own risk.

Not an artist, but anime designs seem to very much be about balance. Outline thickness, body proportions, colour, spacing; everything has to be done well or the design just doesn't seem "right". From a glance, the neck thickness is a little wonky, but the colours are also not that appealing. The eyes seem like they're too thin and have been photoshopped on, and something appears off with the shoulders. Overall, I'd say the main problem is it just seems kind of generic, like a background character instead of being the MC of a show.

As I said, not an artist so take what I say with a grain of salt. Most of these problems could also just be contributed to it being a rough draft too.

I can go full volume just fine but I think i naturally gravitate towards narrator / reader type voice instead of full voice acting. It can get a little monotone, so I have to watch that i emphasize a lot while still maintaining the same tone. It plays into my stream program (relaxing / comfortable / ASMR-like)

I'm not practised in full voice acting so it sounds very off if i do that, same goes for singing. I've been trying to alleviate that with VA reps (reading all unvoiced dialogue on stream), but I got a long road. A little conscious about my "full volume", so maybe the deeper / calmer tone is giving me more confidence. But the main idea I've had in the back of my head is basically reinhard from logh.

I think that's a good starting point. There are a lot of fans of the characters from logh so if you branch off from there (related media that fans of logh also enjoy) you should find something that you like that also suits your personality.
