Same rules, but significant seasonal rains taken into account.

Do consider that the areas west of hagu would be tundra with Earth-like-climate approximation and Cold semi-arid in the hot planet approximation.

The area on the neutral continent is a mixture of oceanic and humid subtropical in Earth-like (i think), and only mediterranean in hot planet.

I never wanted to force anything just on my own. nor did i wannt to fuck over other nations enitrely for my own selfishness.

i wanted to make a proper proposal and before that wanted to work this out with clocks as to not mess with other nations as much as possible. and if after that the consens would still have been a big no for such a change i would have accepted that.

but i wasn't even given the chance for that and honestly i'm sick and tired of getting shat on for having concerns of my ownin regards to my nation. gettign accused oof wanting some perfect nation that is jsut a mary sue. that i just hate everyone and think its some big conspirarcy to fuck me over with my persecution complex and whatnot.

i said form the start that i don't mind typhoons, hurricanes or tsunamis affecting the nation and after iw as told more properly about the earthquakes neither did i for that

it was mainly about the volcanoes that i worried and i jsut simply didn't want.

i also had no issues killing beloved characters of mine before. i have written about the big issue of champs having to live with persecution in /vrt/ and it beign an issue. and i also have written about issues of my nation like having a shit land army or needinng to import metals in huge masses because of lack in our own nation for it.

i also yesterday vented because the double standards to many things some uphold are annoying. not jsut in regards to me but overall.

i find it absolutly disgraceful how rumina anon for example got treated for wanting to write a nation where he wants and having to go to great lenghts of explaining it beign plausible because of perceived headcanons of others.

same with people now being angry about me makign a proposal for a potential change and makign the argument that with other things others too could do as they pleased and no one ever abtted an eye about it either or cared about realism for it too. but sure the argument "X did Y so i want to do soemthing like Y too" is of course bad when it comes from someone thats not a friend of those people.

but as i said, i am done, i will deal with it and accept it. i won't bring this up anymore.

Yes, all drama/soc/funposting is still going on, but it doesn't take up entire threads anymore like it did during the summer. We actually get some occasional lore discussions done. And no, drama posting never replaced anything, it just melded with the other two back then, so now that the majority of fun/socposting happens on the cord, it's that much more apparent.

The fundamental idea that the tectonics fuck over the Retro Reich is faulty, and everything that followed thereafter is just... Silliness.
The RR is about 700 km from the plate boundaries. You don't get frequent earth shattering earthquakes this far from plate boundaries. Pyongyang and Shanghai are about 6-700 km from the japan plate boundary and the strongest earthquake in their history is about magnitude 6. Just about makes your books fall off the shelves. Meanwhile, cities in China much further from the boundary have gotten 7.8 magnitude shakes. Far enough for the fault, there's a fuckton of variance in how tectonic activity varies. If Retro doesn't want earthquakes that damage buildings, he can just write he doesn't get them and that's perfectly plausible. It's not like he was on the boundary, or on top of a supervolcano or something like that.

But they do, you could make the argument that they do so with less frequency but threads are easily just as volatile and bloated with these types of things, even more so when bolstered by the cord, which holds its own slew of obvious issues that do a good job of counter acting its benefits.

The addition of /wAIfu/ is also interesting since /wg/ isn't too keen on that thread. The clash of two different writing styles, I suppose. We even lost one of our more prolific writers to the "dark side". So definitely some interesting developments between Writhaven and our new nations!

Maybe you would be correct in that regard if said circumstances are still applicable to the project as is. Yes, it's called getting them to accept the changes we randos tell them to. I doubt that would go over well if the last few threads are of any indication.
I would say I am past the point of apathy long ago. It is more like full-blown antipathy since I have realised too late the terrible implication of what I did, and I fail to see there are satisfactory solutions to it. Isn't that what the point of this whole thread is? To have fun creating?

The sad part is that the current Earth model is not completely without merits either. For one, /nasfaqg/ and /mep/'s desired climate lined up better with that, and I can probably find a few others that might prove more desirable if I delve deeper. The same as what I had made, because that is the point: we assume the planet's perimeter is different in a way where my climate map would make sense.

>>40737134
Yes, telling them it is our way or the highway is easy. It is just that I can see three responses:
>accept it
People change their climate to conform to the map, even though it is not the kind of climate they prefer.
>ignore it
Which brings us back to the current inconsistencies and climate patchwork.
>leave
Which would drive off contributors active enough to make the issue relevant in the first place.
None of the options seems like an improvement over what we have, especially if we keep the point of it being a place where we can have some fun on /vt/ for a change in mind.
The province system was meant to remedy that, since it would allow people to pick where their country should be for matching climate, but it would not solve the issues for preexisting countries unless they want to move, and that probably will just bring us back to the pre-Nuefag days even if we assume people are fine with dropping their existing lore to facilitate the move.

I wholeheartedly doubt that any of the fuckers currently in the project are so spineless as to run away because their climate changed a bit, but that's just me.
If we don't eventually make a decision on this, it will continue festering, just like how the old country system did, before the province system was put into place. Newfags would simply be told that the spot they choose would have the climate that it has on the map, and that they cannot change that. If they want a different climate, they can always pick another spot. And oldfags would know what and how to fix their lore if corrections were needed, it's not like we are strangers to changing lore.
See, simple. So stop worrying so much and let's make a comprehensive list of what would change.

>> No.40744076

The thing is anon, I think there's even more of a disagreement than you lay out here. Because there are anons who draw enjoyment from their nation and the world all having one internally consistent climatology, that's one of the fun aspects of worldbuilding, to them. Those are the people that the current uncertain status quo puts aside. Can writers in that group also be accommodated? I think at least we should be able to give them an answer if they ask "what kinda climate should I have if I want to be consistent with most of the rest of the project?"
If there are people who adamantly want to have a climate that follows different rules, I guess that's their prerogative. I'm not sure there's anyone currently in the project who would leave over something like this, though.

Maybe kind of like this? River valleys and alluvial plains can host lot of population and that's where most of the population should be. Hills and ridges should also serve as separators of the provinces. The Raika is the artery of the country so provincial capitals are probably located quite near it. The East is quite pastoral but the Northern most territory still has some good farmlands and climate near that river plain going into /uuu/ so the placement is kind of like Canada and specifically Alberta. Of course this is just a place holder. Orange is major cities, red is the regional capital, blue dot means it's a port. Capital is self-explanatory.

>> No.40754481

>>40753377
This does look pretty good to me.
I do figure that the way the east can have larger mining cities is by having them import food by using the rivers.
The border with Hoshiyomia in the west would also probably have a large amount of smaller towns as a result of trade I imagine. I guess the real difficulty of all of this is figuring out just how many cities and population centers should actually be mapped out and not just ignored.

Also, from what I read, the DwB weather allows for agriculture, as is shown in the administrative division of vladivostok
Dfc can also allow for agriculture, from what I'm reading off of google about the finnish countryside. So those zones could still hold some important population centers. Sure, less populated, but still important.
The main push towards the east I imagine would be the hunger for mining materials like Iron and other things.

Prepared a few questions and objections. If you could, answers and discussion would be appreciated.
Also, thank you for giving the thread a chance to discuss this whole debacle.

>1. North-Western and Northern Ailivia - Objection
Would continentiality not in this area be high enough to plausibly justify a Dfc or a Dfd climate? And with /uuu/, the area is still under the influence of a rather strong warm current.
>2. /kr/ - Objection, Question
Would there not be a transition zone of D_ _ between the Cfb/c and ET?
How would the southern /kr/ change if we assume the warm ocean current to the south-east is strong enough to overpower its own countercurrent, removing the influence of a cold current from the southern /kr/? This is a plausible possibility.
>3. Western Neutral Continent - Question
Why is the area south-west of hfz mediterranean and not oceanic? Why is the area south of them oceanic instead, even though intuitively that area should be drier than the northern area?
>4. Middle Hagu - Objection
How is Dfa an option? Given the latitudes and currents, id assume Dfb/Dfc
>5. Fetish Continent in general - Objection
Feels too continential. Given the massive presence of ocean around the area, why would this areas not plausibly be Cfc, or at least have a mixture of D_ _ and Cfc
>6. Nijicontinent - Question
Why is NijiJP all aw/m and part of it not just Am? Furthermore, why does the Cwa in NijiEN reach the other side and it not being Cfa for example

Lastly, you mention having a weather pattern simulation of some sort? Is there anything you could share about it, this sounds extremely interesting to me.

My reasoning is that the northern coast of the Holo continent would likely be subjected to strong arctic wind from the large icecap covering the arctic landmass, which will lead to a summer too cold to be considered continental climate. You can probably argue that the /uuu/ peninsula can be subpolar oceanic climate (Cfc) instead due to the warm current, although I have my doubts about it spreading further than that. I also don't know why that warm current split into two off that peninsula.
>2
A transitional zone, if it exists, would be rather narrow there due to how thin the /kr/ peninsula is. It might be difficult to justify it having a warm enough summer and a cold enough winter at the same time to be Dfc. As for the gyre south of /kr/, I have my doubts about it doing much, since that warm current is warm only by comparison due to it being pretty much a subpolar current. It being stronger might spread the subarctic monsoon climate further west, but I don't know if it would have enough heat in it to power all the way to /kr/.
>3
I might have drawn that boundary a bit too south. Somewhere near 40-45 might be more reasonable. As for the oceanic climate south of it, it is mostly based on real life pattern, but is related to the colder weather reducing water evaporation that leads to wetter weather.
>4
Fair point, the continental climate can probably cover the whole coast, with the boundary to the subarctic climate going a bit further north.
>5
To be honest, I have always been a bit stuck with the climate classification of that long peninsula. I relied somewhat on the climate simulation I mentioned above, and the peninsula seems to go below freezing during its winter, hence it is listed as continental. That said, I can see a case for oceanic climate zones for that as well.
>6
Am and Aw are always present as a transitional zone between Af and C_a, although Am is more prominent in monsoonal regions. They are fairly similar in practice, and that is one of the reasons why I opted for listing both under the same category (the other being that of the low resolution - I separated them in the old map, and the result was not very satisfying since I missed some of the transitional zones). As for Cwa reaching the inland sea, that is a result of the Niji monsoon - during winter, the inland high pressure zone from the Lazulight-/haha/ highland will make offshore wind dominate the inland coast, while the reverse is true for summer. It can be debated whether the inland sea can generate enough moisture for a truly wet summer, so one can make a case for the coast being Cfa as well.

As for the simulation, I tried the free version of Clima-Sim a while ago. It is a fairly rudimentary tool (at least for the free version), but it provides some valuable information like temperature and temperature difference, which is useful in mapping high pressure zones and determining where monsoon would happen, but I also used it to work out some of the more unusual landmass' climate. It is by no means a very reliable tool, but it is better than nothing.

It should be stressed that I am by no means the sole (or even best) authority on climate zoning, and since this revision is based on current Earth perimeter, others should be able to go through the same logic to work out their own climate map that might differ from mine. It does not mean they would be wrong for that - if anything, they might actually be more true to real life than mine.

NTA, but thank you for your work on this and for addressing those points anon, this is immensely helpful. What are factors that drive the strength of an oceanic current? Looking good, tho I would personally reduce the size of the first trekkers expedition, 30k seems a bit much. Unless of course that was the first wave of migrants from /rushia/, then disregard this and the next point.
If that wasn't the case and it's an exploratory expedition, I would also maybe push the 2nd expedition back a few years, 2 years seem kinda short.

And lastly, I thought we came to the conclusion that you wouldn't be claiming the entire archipelago until after /yah/ fell, with a constant struggle between you two for control of the island. I could be misremembering tho, that thread was a bit of a clusterfuck.

>I also don't know why that warm current split into two off that peninsula.
Its because fluid mechanics are very complex, and modeling then pseudo-accurately takes away from the usefulness of the map. The ocean current map is there to show an easily understandable, but very simplified image of how the currents would affect different areas.

You could thing of that split as modeling a loss of coherence for the ocean current. It becomes less defined as a singular current and breaks off into multiple small ones that furthermore mix together in various ways.

Pic related, its a very rough approximation of how the ocean currents may look like if detailed. I did not think about the arrow colours much, so dont take them as factual. The point is merely to show how currents move.
Below is a real world example of a comparable current - the Gulf Stream evolving into the north atlantic drift (current), with arrow colours that should be familiar. The cold current coming in from the north is the Labrador current.
https://files.catbox.moe/5m1wxt.png

Another example, of what may be happening north and west of /uuu/. Norwegian current fading and evolving into what I believe is the transpolar drift stream, as well as contributing to the east greenland current.

Do you define strength by velocity, or volume?
Latitude through coriolis effect is a major factor, but surface winds also drive them, as do of course, other currents. Various other factors also come to mind, water density and salinity. Ocean floor topology can steer currents, just the same as continents can.
I suppose if you took a lot of water and squeezed it through a smaller gap, it would move faster, but in total the same volume of water as enters the gap would come out the other side. You increase velocity, but not volume.

Timeline:
969: Prophet Elijah is shown signs of what is to come is shown to a charismatic man named Elijah who is divinely inspired by Rushia who tells him of a near disaster but an even brighter future. He preaches his word and gathers 10,000 followers by 971. The news of a Volcano erupting is the sign.

May. 971: First Trekkers (10,000) head off to the east.
They aren’t militant at first, but things change that. Their leaders are Elijah as the religious leader (Who becomes the First Patriarch) and Heraclius Argead, a Charismatic Knight who serves as the secular leader (Who becomes the first King).

August. 971: Land at the island of Argead (This is where the Knight gets his surname), things go along fine at first until the wife of Heraclius is kidnapped and raped by the King of the Island (Dec 971), Aristophane.
A battle occurs where the King is slain by Heraclius in single combat (Jan 972), and the zeal of the Trekkers overcomes their large opponent. As revenge for the sacrilege, the entire island’s population is killed. (By June 972).
Word is sent back home which arrives in November.

Feb 973: Russia Yab which causes the other trekkers to believe, second and third expeditions are organized.

March 974: Second Trekkers (25,000) head to this new holy land in May. Arrive in Agread in September, and conquest of the other islands are started. Third Trek organized.

975:
Third Trekkers (35,000) depart in March and arrive in July.
Rest of Islands are taken (October).
The full Prophecy of the Betrayal is revealed to the Trekkers in October after islands fall. They try to send word back, but it is too late.
The plan to take the mainland is prepared.

976: Year of Betrayal and the start of the Great Migration (Feb 24th).
First landing on the mainland (April 24th).
This is where foreigners become officially involved.

977 to 983: Mainland captured totally as more and more Rushians flee.

986: Great Migration over with 1.4 million taken over to their new home, with even more dying.

I guess in the current situation, the relevant measurement is the heat carried by the water. My thought is that a faster current would carry warm water farther, since it spends less time being cooled down. I think a faster, more directional current would also mix less with neighbouring water currents, which would affect how much it cools down too. Does this sound plausible?

Phone almost dead, so I'll be quick with this. Looking good, the only comments would be about the followers of the first expedition, and island ownership again. If Eliah gathered 10k followers, I feel it would make sense for some to be left behind on the mainland before venturing out to sea. Ya know, so that while they are out there securing the promised land, the ones left behind can further spread his word to gather even more influence and followers.
And not all the islands remember? Want to give something for yahanon to play with, as well as giving you both a shared conflict to interact over. I'm watching your sneaky ass, trying to get them all for yourself. Not on my watch!

Other than that, looking good! Also will be expecting a story of the first trekkers and their arrival on Argead in the future, I have a feeling that would be kino!
