It's funny. I wouldn't consider myself a brand loyalist, but there's something about the Tsunderia VTubers in particular that is so different from any other agency, even the big ones. Ami in particular really exemplifies the difference and I struggle to really explain what it is. I really think it's just as simple as love: loving being a VTuber, loving the audience that shares the same interests, loving just being around each other. Phase might have numbers, but does anyone really love Pippa? Kawaii might have a rising ASMRtist but does anyone really LOVE Oceane? Certainly not like buckos love Ami, or sheeple love Lisa, or flans lo- okay bad example there. Adding another thought to this: Corpos are not huge and the people making hiring decisions are going to be influenced by their own biases. Meaning that a particular corpo will tend to hire a certain "kind" of person for their talents, possibly subconsciously, because integration and social compatibility is important to maintain a cohesive unit and because staff will want to get more talents that they can work with smoothly.

That's why as soon as you fall for one, you're likely to be somewhat compatible with other talents in the same corpo. Because by nature the members will be generally compatible with each other by virtue of the hiring process. It's rare that someone will be hired where they don't get along with the rest. This is what makes you feel like the group is "special". If you look at Prism talents like say Sara and Rita and Luto, they might be far apart on the spectrum of personalities but overall they get along together, and fans of one can appreciate the others BECAUSE the chuubas themselves appreciate each other.

Not too different from what you can get from people in real life if you are unlucky.
For most people here the only difference will be being around someone that doesn't care about you and being around someone that doesn't care about you but at least pretends to do it.
If the choice is bad or not becomes subjective at that point. Some people can trick themselves into believing the kayfabe and others can't.
But I agree that sadly the relationship between a streamer and a fan will never be a true friendship. Only wayu that can happen is that at some point the streamer decides to break that boundary themselves and start seeing their viewers as individuals instead of a chat hivemind, and I don't see that happening for someone in a corpo or with big numbers.
