I really can't think of a way and believe me, I am racking my brain for it. I want it to be viable, I'm just not feeling any scenario where turning off the model with voice only would not just be a straight up improvement.
Like, you could literally get the VAs for ATLA or Teen Titans with fully rigged avatars staying in character playing games and I think I still wouldn't watch them beyond the initial three streams. It's just wrong, like eating blue eggs; I could figuratively close my eyes, but then again I could just eat normal eggs.

I think inherently part of the issue is that a vtuber avatar makes the user seem insecure, since its not just the lack of a camera, it goes one step further into a deliberate full construction of their appearance for viewers. For women this is overlooked because of many factors - makeup and alteration of their appearance is already a norm, hiding their real appearance in a society where women typically try to flaunt their looks is seen positively, and insecurity is overlooked or even considered preferable.

For a guy, all that is an implicit sign of weakness to other guys unless there is some good reason for using a vtuber avatar instead of a facecam other than concern over appearance - which is difficult to ignore, since that is a major part of using a model. It's like wearing a muscle suit with fake abs.
