Are TTRPGs truly cursed for EN VTubers? Every major instance of a campaign has absolutely crashed and burned because the GMs involved are shit. For example:

>Mori runs Hunter: The Reckoning
>Refuses to learn any VTT or do proper GM prep
>Flakes the games at the last minute ("lol EN curse") until everyone gives up on there ever being a conclusion

>vShojo + large indies play D&D under Arcadum
>Arcadum gets canceled as a massive sex pest and absuive douchebag
>None of the girls want to play TTRPGs again

>Vesper runs D&D
>Rages so hard he gets suspended and kills all momentum
>Releases the "Lost VOD" in spread out 20 minute increments across multiple days

Meanwhile JP flourishes in the same spaces, even if they don't do longer-form campaigns.

>for EN VTubers
Try literally anyone, the hard part about playing TTRPGs with a group of friends is getting together past the 1st game lmao.

>> No.40211172

It's hard for anyone. Getting five busy people around the world all online at the same time with potentially hours set aside is difficult. Even if you all agree on "Okay on X day at Y hour, every week we play for two hours minimum." people will still flake out and not be able to show.

Tempus campaign is still going, you're comparing dead campaigns with where the episodes are short which is easily solved by putting them all in a playlist.

Don't worry, gib her some time and she'll save TTRPG for ENchuubas

this ain't an EN thing or even a vtuber thing. Groups fall apart a LOT, managing TTRPGs is difficult

VShojo tried with another DM and then for hit by the Nux drama.

They had another one this year. They solved the problem by just making it a one-shot (one session campaign) and using a literal who DM.

>> No.40213159

You shouldn't play campaigns, but rather one-shots that last one session. Way easier to schedule, way less viewers feeling entitled for the campaign to progess the way they want (both story or rules wise)

The intro solo episodes for mythbreakers were the highlights. Especially Scout's origin story.

>> No.40213501

>>40213159
Something like Monster of the Week would also be good for vtubers. 1-2 sessions per monster, with no overarching story, and the option to keep/swap characters as necessary.

>>40210711
Mori ran Mythbreakers the way you’d run an actual non-stream TTRPG campaign, and it ended like the vast majority of campaigns.

I enjoy Vesper's one-shot. Curiobot is a blast and I love how quickly they turned from heroes to murder hobos.

Episodic campaigns would work out pretty well because you could have an entirely revolving cast in the same "universe" as each other

There's a scene for it in JP, usually running one-shots or 4 sessions at most per story, it does help CoC is their most used system and character longevity isn't really a thing in that.

>> No.40216185

I wouldn't say that it's a EN vs JP thing when the issue is endemic to the hobby itself, especially online and across timezones.

Critical Role ruined an entire generation of TTRPG videos

I ran an online dungeons and dragons campaign for 4 years with my friends. One being American, one guy was indian, and 3rd was Finnish. We had a Brit but he dropped out halfway. Made it from level 1-19 and while they were setbacks, it was a lot of fun. It's not hard as long as there is passion and there was from all my players.

I thought Mori's was...fine, I just hate that she used her teacher voice on them the whole time. It was a fine set of streams though

the ina ep was excellent too even if it was mostly just mori being a good dm while ina was relatively quiet.

I really do hope mori goes back to it sometime for oneshots because she showed she can do em well

>> No.40216827

they should focus on doing interesting single shots using a mechanically simple system instead of fucking dnd (gross) or wod (the setting is too fucking elaborate to play games in). they should just make their own systems to they don't have to worry about permissions. it's ez pz and I pretty much come up with a custom system for my group whenever it's my turn to GM.

ain't nobody got time for 48 episodes of fucking wizards and warriors. that shit is boring

>> No.40217926

>>40210711
The attempts are still appreciated, Mori's failings meant Vesper tried something else to see if it works. I'm no fan of >DnD myself, but I understand Vesper's logic of picking it instead of diving straight into grognardia. What could be done in Holo is to have a group in roughly the same timezone, and people with enough interest to actively volunteer. That means potential groups will be split into North America and Asia+Australia, with the latter group drafting interested HoloID members like Reine or Risu, and only small games like self-contained oneshots.

>>40211323
I actually have high hopes for her. She's a bit too newfag to the hobby for me, but she knows what she's doing.

Brett DM'd for the VShojo girls once, but it was put on hold because of Snuffy's health complications at the time.

Campaigns are cursed. Just run oneshots or fewshots like FBK and other JPs, unless the players are seriously invested and reasonable to plan with.

What are you talking about? Vesper's is still ongoing. He released pre recorded VODs to replace streams while he's on break to visit family for the holidays. The campaign will resume soon when he gets back.

its possible as long as you're all single NEETS with nothing else to do.
