The problem with his design is that it looks like a first draft that got forced out before actually being finished. There's too many separate points of high-detail interest that are spread too far apart, with stretches of boring zero-detail color blocks. The most interesting part of his design (the hand cape) isn't even visible during regular streams. Meanwhile the regular "chest up" view we get of him, the top of his chest draws attention away from his face because it's the highest detail and highest contrast part visible. HIs hair is also ugly as fuck and his crown detail is confusing and hard to understand.

Given more feedback and another month I bet the artist could have done something good but it's a jumbled mess as is.

He had the worst reaction from the public when holopro announced his character design. I honestly hated his and noir design at first, which suck because those two are my favorite streamers. I think the area from the waist up is salvageable during his streams. But when his model is looking directly forward, it looks like the Yee dinosaur face.

Magni's design is really unique and cool, it's the art style that's bringing it down. When other artists draw him he looks great. The biggest issue is the lack of definition on his nose, it makes his face look flatter and eyes farther than they really are.

She had really, really awful rigging even by Hololive standards and she wanted to be cuter instead of seen as a cool character because that is more of her style, hence why the new design may be slightly lighter in skin tone but is mostly just giving her a princess skirt and sleeves but sitll keeping the boob window.
And yes, Coco's Taiwan yab is likely why Cover agreed to fund the redesign but it isn't the reason Flare wanted it.
