Phase and Idol are carrying the entire vtubing industry at this point. Not just in the West but globally. The reason for this is that Vshoujo is Vshoujo, and Hololive and Nijisanji are essentially the same maletuber/collab bullshit now that isn't worth watching. My prediction is that both will continue to grow and develop and preserve true vtubing.

My schizo rrat is that Holosanji became Holosanji because the Japanese lost footing culturally due to K-pop, so they're trying to pour everything into a singular thrust in this sphere, since the anime boom has ended and is even contracting a bit. Never underestimate Asian autism. Naturally, this will just lead to further decline of Japanese vtubing. Both Phase and Idol are creating authentically Western vtubing culture, which is paradoxically now purer and truer to the original vision than whatever the fuck the Japanese are doing.

It's also possible that both Hololive and Nijisanji are broke, as in out of money. It doesn't matter. What matters is that this has been a great year for Phase and Idol, and I count myself as their fan.

Yeah Phase were getting silly about Gen 3 when Gen 2 barely was out.

Problem is fishman had the models already ready (some of them are likely Gen1/2 rejects) and wanted to get them used. Nobody wanted them to be rushed out, regardless if it was viewers or talent. Fortunately fishman backed down.

For Idol I can see why they are pushing stuff out quicker but again, they need to grow properly, without the excessive shilling.
