Because my original prediction on Salome came true. People were only there for the meme name and to see if anything was going to happen when she hit one million. Her viewership was huge because people thought it was some elaborate Nijisanji marketing stunt and they wanted to be there for the ride. When she hit 1 million and nothing happened and it turned out she was just another bog standard vtuber with a shitty name they all left super quick.

I still find Niji's ability to court tourists fascinating. I know people just like to say bots which I think is true for any major streaming company but the genuine interest in her was unavoidable. Somehow people really were convinced she was going to be something. Holos you can get a feel for the general fanbase, certain ones who have low tourist draws and others who have dedicated fans who only care about them. Niji can just do a random event or weird debut and it kinda just works. For a while at least. Again yes I know bots, but from the action you see online there is some genuine interest.

The people who were spamming it were just Anti Hololive and trolls that never actually watched her.
Also what other people said, most of her viewers were bots and it wasn't even a /#/ but a legitimately case of just looking at her stream and seeing how a bunch of viewers just instantly showed up then disappeared without ever watching anyone else.
