Been wanting to VTube for a while now and I'm thinking of applying to an agency. Would you recommend Niji or Holo and why?

makes sense since it's more popular and draws in more viewers...niji seems to be a bit less strict when it comes to the audition requirements from what I've seen (can't be too sure though, since they don't have a permanent application site like holo does nowadays)

The highest chances of success would be with indies, but if you insist on either Hololive or Nijisanji then you should probably aim for the latter.

Without previous streaming experience or a really outstanding skill your chances of joining Hololive are pretty slim. Nijisanji, on the other hand, seem a bit more lax with their requirements and introduce new groups at a much higher rate.

Male or female?
Female go holo

Male, still go holo, top dogs at niji are already cemented and chinks have no more room in their hearts. Holostars has potential to actually let you grow your niche since you aren't being replaced every 2 months by the hot new thing.

If you aren't as worried about the lesser stability and having to stay in the 2- low 3 view range for most of your streaming career small corpos are always something, but you'd definitely have to look into them to see if you'd get the kind of support you would want for things you wanna do. Tsunderia for example, while they would likely hook you up with an awesome model, would kinda be shit for if you wanna do a lot of concert type stuff or have a lot of merch since management is a little too hands off.

From my own impressions:
If you're a male and care about numbers, Niji is the better choice.
If you're a female and care about numbers, Holo is the better choice.

If you have distinguishable, but also broadly marketable talents and wish to get support that is catering towards it, Holo seems like the better pick between the two since they seem to allow and wish for a tiny tad more individuality compared to Niji despite being also more restrictive with content and permissions. Also keep in mind that HoloPro doesn't release new waves very often, which means competition for the few spots will be fierce. Also keep in mind that you should be open towards idol typical activities such as singing, releasing song covers or originals and eventually for some basic dancing too.

If you feel like you don't have any outstanding skills, but still think you can make it as a general streamer, Niji seems to offer the better chances, but with the trade-off that they likely pick their talents to match the market's most popular taste (humor, personal taste in gaming and music, hobbies). More recently Anycolor has seemingly also become more encouraging regarding idol activities, so even if they do not explicitly state that you need to engage in any related activities, you should keep it in the back of your head that you will eventually see involvement of some form. So being open towards these things is a plus too. On the other hand despite the frequent releases of new talents, not many of them stick out giving off the impression that individuality and eccentrism for recognizability is not as much of an important factor for them compared to easy marketability, which in the end means, if your tastes and ideas are too specific and niche, you may be not what they are looking for.

Either way I would recommend just starting out as an indie and try out being a vtuber first. If you have very concrete ideas about what you want to create and become, want to keep as much agency about your content as possible and feel like you don't fit into the image of above mentioned, I would recommend staying an indie and working towards creating a niche for yourself.

And last, independently from whichever you chose, keep in mind that versatility is always appreciated and helps you become a more well-rounded talent.

>> No.39656317

>>39638274
You have to be an established content creator to be accepted into either of those companies, anon. In fact most of their members were indie vtubers before they joined. I think the furthest either company has strayed from that criterion was when Niji hired Kyo, who was some random fortnite player on youtube.

The application is much like the Holo one. The only added requisite was for the gamers wave which asked for you to list accomplishments IIRC. The Holo one asks more questions actually, like what is your long term goal and who is your favorite talent.

Niji seems to be much easier to get into, but doesn't come with the explosive growth that Hololive gets just by the name alone. It does grant you more freedoms though as well as access to others.

If you don't have experience, start as an Indie. All holos and nijis have years of experience in streaming, let's plays or the entertainment industry, so you have to first go through that.

Also if your goal is to use your VTubing activities in your personal portfolio, it would probably be better to stay Indie.

Also start streaming, even if your model is just a default model or a self-made VRoid avatar. One of the first hurdles is to become comfortable to talk to the screen. So better get that period where you suck over with fast.
