Over the last year or so I slowly started watching them after becoming disenchanted with HoloEN (who seem to have drifted apart a lot) and I pretty much only watch them and Nijisanji now. I suppose it's just me being an elitist, and I might be wrong since I'm not exactly immersed in their individual lores, but it feels like the majority of them just don't have any sort of...I don't know how to put it, awareness of the culture they just cannonballed into? If you peeled away the avatars most of them are indistinguishable from your average female twitch streamer in terms of behaviour, they rub shoulders with other normal twitch streamers and barely ever interact with JP chuubas outside of the big ones that it'd be profitable to talk to, and I doubt they know or care to learn about the history of vtubing before it boomed in the west. I don't hate them as people, but I don't respect them as vtubers, since they just feel like bandwagoners hopping into this hobby now that it's exploded so they can make a quick buck.

Silver and Vei were streaming camless since like 2017, and both started vtubing in early 2020
Nyan was the same, but she had a very brief cam period that lasted for like 4 streams total across her 6 or so years of streaming.
Mel was basically the first truly huge name for western vtubers in the west and is an unironic trailblazer in that regard. Haruka, who just joined, started streaming around the same time, though was a small name at the time.
Only Froot and Hime in the original group did little streaming before becoming vtubers in late 2021 and early 2022 respectively.

I liked them better back in the pre-VShojo days when they streamed together because they were friends and not because they shared some arbitrary branding. All of the girls were fans of each other if not outright simps, and now it feels like they hardly associate with one another.
