I actually care quite a bit about membership for when I chat. I don't like being a grey. I just want to blend in with everyone else.
I don't buy merch. The only merch I've ever bought was a peko birthday daki. And I don't even watch much peko, I just thought it was an especially cute cover.
I don't mind buying live tickets, but it's a tough commitment when audio/video quality can be hit or miss. Let alone buffering and stability issues. I'm more likely to download an archive and send a superchat.

I actually do not give a shit about merch, but happily pay for membership for the few that I really like despite not using chat for more then spamming glowsticks occasionally and even that is pretty rare since I normally end up watching VODs. I just view it as a subscription that says 'keep making the content you are currently doing' which is all I really want.

AZKi is surely nowhere close to being a millionaire. Speculation, and source my ass, I know... but I'd be genuinely surprised if any of the holo girls are sitting with over a million dollars in assets, liquid or otherwise. This includes speculating on easily visible metrics such as top subs (Gura) as well as top superchatted (Rushia, Coco). I wouldn't be surprised if some of them are, since I feel like you're massively undervaluing how much money they make from sponsorships and merch sales. For example, Watame was able to fund the My Song MV with a single merch run. Someone like Suisei who's very aggressive about getting sponsorships, between normal things like like sponsored game streams, offline things like their various food and other good product placements, and more unusual things like Mos Burger probably has a very large income stream, though she also recycles a lot of that back into her content by paying for music and big name producers. I think that some of the bigger and more successful Holos certainly are dramatically wealthy, and even the lower tier ones are certainly affluent but not millionaires. I guess the big question is how much you're counting revenue vs income, hard to define assets such as music rights, and so on.

Well how many millions? 20 millions? Let's go with that. Now this will just use the easy to find tax calculators so it excludes any and all special considerations. Someone making ¥40M will have net income of ¥20.6M and pay tax of ¥19.4M.
¥19.4M of net income is $142k USD. Again, I just made up the 20 million yen tax number, we'd need something more concrete to say for sure whether she is earning >250k, let alone >1m. Millions of yens in taxes alone does not make one a millionaire, not even close. $1m usd is now like ¥136m after all the exchange rate fuckery.

I'm not trying to undermine them. And i have a thorough understanding that sponsorships and advertising is what will propel these girls into the next level of earners. It's certainly not memberships and spacha. Maybe it's merch, but sponsorships and promos will reign supreme in the future.
There's a lot of things that come in to play, so that none of us can really say for sure. But it always seemed to me like the holomems do pay significant production costs for things like their covers, mv, equipments, etc.
Of course I am accounting for revenue and income. That's where the whole problem is coming from, I think. Sure, they can pull in massive revenue before paying all their business expenses (which can be quite large) and paying the agency. Then from gross income you have to take off the taxes to get to net income. Net income is the only thing that matters to this discussion of being a millionaire or not. It doesn't matter if your revenue is $10M when your income is only $5.

Setting aside that I think you're gravely overestimating how much they have to pay for anything but the biggest vanity projects, especially in relation to their income sources, the question is if you're a millionaire if your direct income is sub a million but have ownership of multiple assets in the form of song rights, which we do know that the talent retain unless they sell to Cover from Polka talking about it being the reason it took forever to get Hologram Circus on streaming services, that had many millions of dollars invested in them? I would argue that it's much more volatile, but not overly different, from a small business owner who has a healthy personal income but invests the majority of his money back into his business and no one would argue those aren't a millionaire simply because the assets aren't liquid.

Literally no one knows for certain, but I'd be very surprised if Suisei isn't one, Sora is harder to judge since her contract with Victor is a complicating factor and she gets a lot of sponsorships but is less popular overall, potentially Kaf though we have much less of an idea as to how her contract works, and saving this one to last so you could finish reading the post, there's almost zero chance Mori isn't. Even AZKi is probably doing very well given she sold ~$150k in just her limited birthday merch this year. I doubt that any indie is approaching that mark since they don't have the same fanbase size nor do they have the clout to pull big sponsorships.

Maybe Japan is a bit tolerable, but if you are a younger person you pay far too much for what you get in exchange.

High taxes is a real problem when you are trying to make money.

Haachama wanted to leave Australia but because she lived through hell her streams were entertaining as she tried to compensate her problems this way.
It was around the time she came back that she changed and tried to become more popular by being fake.
