I’m not gonna bother crossposting, but I saw some anon(s) mention how IRyS rarely had 6k streams and how she’s where she was before. This is the furthest thing was from the truth. You can look back on the months before and notice a TON of her streams were peaking in the 6k range. For a long while her streams would at BEST peak around 7k ish and then bleed out. It was only outliers like holocure and rust doing work, along with some very specific streams like RE2. Outside of that, most stuck in the territory of 6k.

So the other anon is right. It’s too early to tell where she ends up but as it stands RIGHT NOW, IRyS is performing well beyond where she was before.

Anyways, as for her stream tonight she has an hour to herself to peak and her last 2 switch sports were sub 7k (one was in the jp time) so anything past that is already an improvement. Though I feel she would’ve been better sticking to her original time unless Kronii/Mumei are gonna be streaming tonight, or even Bae

She probably didn't consider herself a vtuber. Most likely since the term was a strictly jp thing at the start. Regardless, she's listed as debuting like a month before sora, but she was streaming way before that. And then you can of course split hairs if what she did was vtubing or not.

So am I the only JPfag that hate Sora, being the embodiment of Cover as an ironic idol company? I just couldn't accept when people paint her as a role model of an idol, the purest idol etc etc. She's not even working harder than anyone. At most she's just management's representative and shill, trying to win both sides.

The term vtuber only really became a thing when Ai popularized the term. The fact that she tacked a lore on top of it (being an A.I.) set the precedent of vtubers being separate from your standard "streamer with an avatar". A precedent that the EN community has been trying to undermine and get rid off mind you but it's there. So on those grounds, I guess you can say that she's more of a convert than an actual OG.

Yes. You’re likely that anon that calls the pre “Christmas miracle” the “golden age of vtubing” and that seethes that a predominantly self contained “walled garden” company ended up being the success model for the industry

Sora didn't start as a VTuber to make numbers. She wasn't even a streamer. It was just a temporal gig. An hour a week some months to be the face of some new tech.

It worked and cover decided to follow through and start recruiting people who ALREADY KNEW about streaming.

Up to covid, Sora streamed from the studio. Only when she was pushed to work from home she started learning the trade.

As a streamer, she's really a newbie.
